T. C. C. 8. GOULD DIES SUDDENLY The people of Valentine and the. surrounding country were shocked Sunday morning when the news spread of the death of C. S. Gould which occurred about four a. m. Sunday morning. He had been in failing health the past fall and was becoming too fleshy for comfort but was the picture of health and was as well apparently as usual when he paid the mill hands Sat urday night , and was not thought to be ailing then. He died of appoplexy and was not conscious after being discov ered by his wife early Sunday morning , she being aroused by his struggles in which he laid his arm across her body , and his groaning caused her to awaken and investi gate. A doctor was summoned but arrived too late , as Mr. Gould died soon after his condition was discovered. Their son John and Ira Hewitt were called and were present at-his death. A short funeral service was held at the house Monday afternoon , and on Tuesday the remains were taken to Davenport , la. , for in terment , accompanied by Mrs. Gould and her sons Allan and John , the former arriving from Douglas , Wyo. , on the train which they boarded. Mr. Gould came to Valentine from Davenport , la. , ten years ago and has been in the employ of S. F. Gilman as manager of his large fldur ing mill at this place ever since. The family has been well received here and Mr. Gould will be missed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. He was 4Q years , 1 month and 23 days old at his death. KTote the Change.
