Gro. Beamer had a runaway one
day hst week which proved dis
astrous to the mower and came
near proy.ing so to George. It
spurns that the tugs on one of the
horses were a little long and he
hud stopped and was shortening
them up and when going between
the horses to shorten the inside
one they became frightened and
started to run. He grabbed the
inside lines but was unable to stop
them. He slid back along the
tongue and fell in front of the
mower. The sickle bar passed
over his body and one wheel ran
over his ankle injuring it so as to
disable him for a few da.ys. It
was a narrow escape and Box O j

Scotell Collie Finds Way Back
Over 500 Miles.
Des Moines , la. , Sept. 15.
With nothing to guide it but its
brute instinct , a Scotch collie dog
belonging to D. E. Wees of this
city journeyed 500 miles by itself
from Valentine , Neb. , where it had
been sold , back home.
It reached here thin , run down
and shaggy , but the same old dog.
Mr. Wees sold it at Hot Springs
S. D. , to a Nebraska man who took
it with him to Valentine. Mr.
Wees will offer the man his money
and keep the dog. World-Herald.
The dog above referred to be
longed to J. W. Stetter of this
city who purchased it several
months ago for his children and
was a beauty.
