Pat Sullivan of Merriman was
in Valentine last week on business
and visiting friends. lie recently
returned from Phoenix , Ariz. ,
where he spent the winter. We
learned of the conditions , climate
and the people of the southwest
from Mr. Sullivan and seemed to
us almost like a visit to Phoenix.
Mr. Sullivan is looking well 'and
is enjoying good health.
Leroy Springer and family of
Cedar Rapids , Iowa , have come
out to Cherry county to live , hav
ing purchased a ranch south of Eli ,
and a part of the family are now
in Valentine where they will re
main a portion of the. sum rap r. A
son of Mr. Springer has accepted
a position in Elliott's drug store.
Mr. Springer was formerly in the
real estate business and taking his
own advice has bought land.

The great Campbell Bros , cpn-
solicated shows which will exhibit
in Valentine , Monday , May 28th ,
has been enlarged on such a scale
of liberality as to make it n xt to
impossible to depiuio its real mag
nitude. Besides enormous addit
ions to the circus proper , the pa
rade has been increased and is now
one of the finest ever seen with
this meritorious organization. In
the arenic display are brought to
gether an assembly of the most
famous acrobats , gymnasts , riders
equilibrists , contortionists , aerial
performers , dancers , funmakers
and sensational specialists in the
world. Most of these artists make
their first appearance in this coun
try with the great Campbell Bros ,
consolidated shows. Foremost
among these celebrities are "The
Mizuno troupof Japs , " "The Fly
ing LeVans 5 "Bishop Bros. ,
double somersault leapers ; Nellie
Ryland , champion bareback rider
of the world ; Cossack Rough Rid
ers in daring feats of horseman
ship ; the great hippodrome races
and other highly sensational acts
too numerous too mention.
Among the trained animals feat
ures are a herd of performing ele
phants , educated horses and ponies ,
high jumping dogs and clown
mules. The menagerie annex con
tains the most complete , exclusive
and valuable collection of wild ani
mals from all parts of the world.
The street parade will leave the
show grounds at 10 o'clock. Per
formance begins at 2 and S p. m.

fornia , but there is one foretold in

short program. It was set apart as
parents day and the parents were t
cordially" invited to be present. The
pupils worked with great interest to
prepare tiieir work for the inspec
tion of the parents The maps ami
drawing books and biography books
were carefully prepared. The par
ents who caine seemed pleased with
the work of the pupils. The enroll
ment of pupils throughout term
was 22. Daily attendance was very
good. Eleven certificates were
earned on perfect attendance and
