Mrs. Frank Sageser visited
friends in Valentine a couple of
days this week , after spending
several days with her sister , Mrs.
Munshower at Crookston. She
returned to her home at Cham
bers , Neb. , this morning.
The boys made the night hideous
with their yells and shooting which
was freely indulged in Tueaday
night much to the discomfort of
many persons who think that a
night of recklessness for boys is
not conducive to good behavior at
any time.
Frank Day had the misfortune
to get shot in the leg last week
while he and Charley Shepard
were examining a revolver. The
bullet entered his leg near the
knee and was taken out near the
hip by Dr. Compton , Frank is
walking around but limps.
A Halloween party was given
at Judge Walcott's home Tuesday
evening. A large number gather
ed and report an enjoyable time
sitting upon pumpkins for stools
while they ate their pies of pump
kin. They put candles in pump
kins for lanterns , and ghosts ,
witches and spectres helped to
bring back memories of olden times.

ture 35 ° was 9 ° below the nor
mal. The highest temperature

of 4:1 ° . The month of October
shows up as the coldest in seven
teen years. The precipitation for
the week was .3i of an inch , giv
ing a total for the season of 27.01
inches. The winds were slightly
above the normal , the highest
velocity being 29 miles per hour
from the NW on the 31st.
The ladies of the Alpha Society
of M. E. church made a good play
when they secured the prodigy ,
Blind Boone , for a benefit per
formance. It was given last night
in the main auditorium of St.
Paul's church , and was attended
by-as many people as could be
conveniently seated in the lower
part of the house and in the gal
lery. The satisfaction given by
the entertainment has not been
equaled in the city for some time.
A ? a pianist , he is , as his manager
claims , a wonder. His rendition
of a selection by Gottschalk was
given faultlessly. State Journal.

Valley school house Friday eve
ning , Nov. 3 , to be given by Miss
Olive Bliss. Ladies are requested
to bring supper for two. This
time the girls will be sold instead
of the baskets. Come everybody.
Frank Grooms experienced a
runaway Friday night at Sparks.
When he left town , banker Sparks
saw him greasing his wagon and
said : "That's right my boy , it
will run easier. " His four-horse
team ran through three wire fences
and wound up at Mr. Haley's ,
about three miles from Sparks ,
slightly scratched but not hurt.
We notice as we pass the farm
of Mr. Bowden that everything is
neat and well kept. AVe notice a
nice young orchard which in a few
years will well repay him for the
time spent caring for it. A fine
row of hedge along the north of
his house will , in a few years ,
make an excellent wind break for
the young tress. If more of our
neighbors would follow his exam
ple the country would be greatly
improved.
We feel proud of our county
ticket this fall. Our nominee for
sheriff , Pete Simons , is a good
straight , honest and upright man ;
a man who has passed through the
up-and-downs of Cherry county ,
through its droughts and prosper
ity ; a man who has proved himself
master of everything he under
takes ; a man who would tradcdollars
with anyone to please them but
would not trade two new ones for
an old one ; a man who is honorable
in all his dealings , kind and agree
able , and , most adn best , the next
sheriff of Cherry county.

The
Food Value
of a Soda Cracker
You have heard that some foods furnish fat ,
other foods make muscle , and still others are
tissue building and heat forming.
You know that most foods have one or more
of these elements , but do you know that no
food contains them all in such properly balanced
proportions as a good soda cracker ?
The United States Government report shows
that soda crackers contain less water , are richer
in the muscle and fat elements , and have a much
higher per cent of the tissue building and heat
forming properties than any article of food made
from flour.
That is why Uneeda Biscuit should
form an important part of every meal. They
represent the superlative of the soda cracker , all
their goodness and nourishment being brought
from the oven to you in a package that is proof
against air , moisture and dust the price being
too small to mention.
