GENTRY BROS. SHOW.
The World's Ilest and Biggest
Collection of Trained Ani
mals Coming Soon.
The name of Gentry will be
handed down to posterity as the
greatest educator of the dumb
brute during the 19th and 20th
centuries. No other man , living
or dead , has ever been able to ac
complish half so much with dogs ,
ponies , monKeys , elephants and
camels as have the four talented
brothers who own and operate the
four largest trained animal shows
in the world. Animal actors will
do that in this city which ten years
ago even would have surpassed
the comprehension of the most en
lightened and best posted individ
uals in this country on animal edu
cation. Even the Grenty Broth
ers themselves have been repeat
edly surprised at the marvelous
results they have attained and
when the statement is made that
the only exhibition of this kind on
earth will be witnessed here when
the Gentry Bros , give their exhi
bition , there is no fear of the state
ment being challenged and no fear
of the public failing to acquiesce.
Gentry Brothers are making a
feature of their street parade this
season , and when the beautiful
pageant passes along the principal
streets of this city , Friday , Sept.
S , 1905 , all those who delight
in the beanties of gorgeous dis
plays should witness it. Like the
rest of the performance the pa
rade is larger and grander than
ever , and every adjective used in
praising it is not misused or mis
applied.

Our young teachers should re

that kindness is the foundation of
all good manners. "Howe'er it

to be good. Kind hearts are more
than coronets , And simple faith
more than Norman blood. "

SCHOOL NOTES.
Mabel Helzer departed Monday
morning for Park College , Mo. ,
where she starts in for a full col
lege course.
The high school boys all showed
good sense by coming in from the
hay fields in time to enter school
the first day.
School opened Monday with an
enrollment of 250 pupils. The en
rollment will probably reach 275
by the close of this week.
Bernice Keif , of the class of ' 05 ,
passed through Valentine on the
train Friday morning en route to
her school near Rushville , where
she will teach nine months.
We have just received our new
books for the beginning Latin
class and we believe they will be a
great improvement over the old
ones which have been in use here
for the past ten years.
Bessie Schifferns is the only
member of the class of ' 06 who
was not in her place Monday
morning. We understand that
hlie is in the country with a sick
friend and that she expects to be
here in a few days.
It seemed , during the summer ,
that there would be more students
wanting places to work for their
board than there would be places ;
but it turns out that there are still
a few families wanting girls to
work for their board and go to
school.
Misses Mutz , Driscoll and Mutch-
more have rooms with Mrs. Elmer
Bristol and are taking their meals
with Mrs. George Harden. Mis
ses Friend and Nelson have a room
with Mrs. Chas. Anderson and are
taking table board at the Valen
tine house. Miss Pettijohn is , of
course , boarding with her parents.
Prof. Watson is rooming at his
home and taking his meals where-
ever he can find them.
The following non-residence are
in attendance : Herbert Jones of
Cody , Misses Frances and Dora
Grewe of Nenzel , Misses May
Barnes and Myrtle Richardson
and Cecil Barnes of Newton , Mae
