Grooms and family were visiting in this locality Sunday Ed Allen from the other side of the river , was on this side after corn recently Nellie Ashburn , Grace Grooms , Irene Copeiand , Ed Allen and Frank Grooms were callers at the Hudson home Sunday. . . .Children's Day exercises at the M. E. church in Sparks , arranged and conducted by Miss Pearl Jelly and Miss Noy Ashburn was a glo\ving success. The church was crowded and the children did their part well. Good order pre vailed and a collection amounting to $2.80 was taken up The ice cream social given atSpaiks Friday night was alright , though the weather was cold. 87.60 was takeu in. The committee now has $12 20 on hand to buy seats for the church The young people of Norden will meet the young people of Sparks at the M. E. church on Sunday , July 2. A Sunday school picnic dinner will be served and Norden brass band will furnish the music. . . . John Swain sold a team to Fred Brayton Friday. . . . William Grooms brought out a load of freight for the store Friday. . . . Frank Grooms and mother and youngest sister went to town Friday _ _ Last week's correspondence. The Sparks creamery was started again last week and moved over to Thad Jellev's and run nearly all Sun day afternoon.Miss Lillie Grooms is staying at A. Haley's at present. . . . .Henry Grooms , Aetna Breachbill , Mr. Peterson and Thad Jelly went tc town Saturday with a car load of bogs which they intended to ship , but lat er sold to J. W. Stetter at $4 60 per cwt. . . .Dick Ogle wentto town Mon day and returned Tuesday , bringing out a load of freight for Mr. Callen. Miss Pearl Jelly went to Valentine Tuesday and returned the same day. Charles Clarkson was in this lo cality from Valentine Tuesday Miss Roxie Swain returned recently from Loup City where she has spent the winter , and now is attending the Valentine Junior Normal with her cousin Miss Smith. Friday evening she came home and Saturday was greeted by a crowd of her young friends. The day was spent in merry making and all had a good time , and the writer being present , will say that he enjoyed himself real well There was a raid made on the coyotes Sunday and four young ones paid the penalty Miss Myrtle Jacquains went to Omaha last week to the Im- anuel hospital , accompanied by her mother.
