Sloes , of Kennedy , was in th" city.everal days this week. Frank Grooms , of Sparks , was a pleasant caller at this office Mon day. MibS Ada Stiuard spent Satur day and Sunday in Yalentine vis iting home folks. B. F. llobson , of north table , was down Monday doing some trading with our merdhauts. L. K. Travis , superintendent of St. Mary's Mission School , ' was down the first of the week on busi ness. Hon. David Haniia came up on the freight from Woodlake Mon day and spent a few hours in town on business , returning on the freight in the afternoon. W. Honey , of Woodlake , was a Yalentine visitor for a few hours Monday. Mr. Honey always makes this office a pleasant call when in town and .we're glad to see him. Miss Byrle Tracewell. who has been teaching near" Crookston-for the past few months , is home spending a week's vacation with her parents , Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Tracewell. Mrs. Dave Dunn , who was brought , finmuher ; v home .on-norfch table to the home of her daughter , Mrs. Randall , about a week ago , is resting niceh s nd doing as well a- can bo expected. Chris Dittmer and his brother William were in town last Thurs day to take out citizens papers for the latter. William has been sick for several years but is able now to go about some in good weather. VYe. are informed that Marry Welke and Jesse Dwycr , both of Woodlake , have had quite a serious attack of the appendicitis. Dr. Hall , of Woodlake , andDr. . Me Knight , of Longpine , performed an operation on them about a week ago and they arc getting along nicely now , so we hear. Frank Seger called on us Tues day for a visit and informed us that he had finished up his business and he and his vit'e intend to de part the latter part of the week for their home near Longmont , Colo. Mr. and Mrs Segar are worthy people and we commend them to the good people of Long mont and vicinity. Mrs. John Bullis' entertained about a dozen guests at a sur prise ( ? ) party Thursdny ovenin'g at their home in honor of Mr. Bullis' birthday. The evening was spent in playing gamevafto.i * which the guests were invitVd into the dining room where a plondid luncheon was served by MVs. Bul lis , assisted bylv < . Brnwn At a late hour the guests departed , wishing Mr. Bullis many happy returns. While Richard Taylor and two of his younger brothers weiorlo\vn ; in the timber enst > f town after a load of wood last Thursday , Rich ard met with quite an accident. He was cutting wood when the ax glanced , cutting into his left foot- , severing an artery and almost cut ting the big toe off. After some difficulty , with the assistance of his two .brothers , , .they .bound a handkLMichief around the ankle and succeeded in stopping the ilow of blood. VIr. Northrop's Cer vices while here in Cody have been very satisfactory both to the ppo- ple hero and his company , and whero such is the case there is al ways a regret to see the man leave , and Mrs. Northrop will also bo greatly missed , as she has been a great help in a social way to this village. Cornstock was in our city last Thursday and Friday in at tendance at court. lie has recent ly returned from WashingtonD.C. where he had been with a com- j mitteo in thft interest of stockmen ; of Western Nebraska in regard to the proposed inspection of cattle to prevent diseased stock going onto the market. He informs us that stockmen must havetheir herds dipped this spring in lime and sulphur in the ratio of one part , lime to two of sulphur , and i if stock shows clean at shipping 'station"will ' be permitted to go on to the market. The stock inspect ors will enforce.these regulations.
