"Launched But Not Anchored. "
No better expression could be ap
plied Jo the four , young ladies who
were on Friday evening launched on
the broad sea of life. This com i
mencement , then : first victory ,
makes them better able to weather
the storms and visicitudes that are u
the accompaniment of every life. a
The exerises were held in the hall d
and not a chair was loft vacant. t
While the strains of the entrance
i
march were vibrating through the
hall , the graduates and all those
who took part in the the program
passed to the stage. In the absence
of Hev. Ciitnhnw , Rev Sillwell gave
the invocation. The following sub
jects were given by the graduates :
"Influence of Kind fjords" by
Mattic A. Parks , "Wisdom is
Wealth" by Leola K. West , "The
Twilight of Hie Eevolution" by Mil
dred M. Day , and "Education Along
the Way" by Chloe B. Waggoner.
f (
| > The young ladies rendered their
orations in a manner which was a
credit to themselves and teacher.
The quartette composed of Mes-
darnes Barnard and Johnson and
Messrs. Baker and Vincent rendered
several excellent selections. The
mandolin and guitar duet by Mes
srs. West and Parker , the instru-
nental duet by Misses Bailey and
West and the class song , "We Meet
to Part , " given by the graduates ,
received deserved applause. W. A.
Parker gave the class many encour
aging and helpful words before
presenting them their diplomas.
At the close of the exercises , flow
ers and other gifts were given the
graduates from their admiring
friends. Congratulations were
showered upon the yonng ladies
from all sides.
