Del has a fl fine claim out in the hay flats and is getting along fine. James Delaney , of Harvard , Nebr. , arrived in Valentine last Sunday morning to visit his cous ins Messrs Andrew and Will Mor- rissey. Claude Jones and Del Whipplp. went out to the lake last Saturday for a few days recreation. "While there they will stop at Claude's ranch. Arthur Tennis , foreman of the Bachelor ranch , was in town last week. His wife preceded him by a few days and they will visit here for a couple weeks. Mrs. Geo. Corbin left for St. Joseph hospital at Omaha yester day morning , where she will be operated on for enlargement of a gland in her throat. The fine stone building that F. Fischer is putting on up Main street is now ready for the upper joists , [ t will soon be a building that will 3e a credit to the town. Wm. ( Mickey ) Ward put in his appearance in Valentine last Sun day morning. He came up from ; he soldiers' home at Grand Is- and to visit his many friends. Larkin Hancock was in town ast Saturday. Two weeks ago THE DEMOCIIAT said he was Dave Hancock's son , and so we acknow- edge a mistake , as he is his broth er. John Simpson , accompanied by } r. Compton , took Mrs. Simpson ; o the Methodist hospital at Oma- la yesterday morning , where she will be treated for partial paraly sis. W. F. Morgareidge was in the city last Saturday on business. Mr. Morgareidge is principal of Merriman school and reports that this has been a very successful year. Bud Gaskill called at this office while in town Monday and set his subscription ahead to THE DEMO CRAT. Bud has a good claim up ihe Minnechaduza and is getting along fine. Last Monday , Api'il 18th , Wm. Strube and Miss Anna Dart , of Merriman , were married in this city. Frank Dart , of Cody , and Miss D. Peacock , of Merriman , formed the bridal party. C. M. Sagesser helped W. A. Kimbell last week in the barber shop. It looked natural to see "Sag's'5 jolly smile in the shop. He went out to Simeon Monday to visit his sister for a few days. Jim Ashburn made a flying tripe o town from St. Francis Mission Sunday , on account of the serious illness of his daughter. She is suffering from rheumatism of the leart , but at present is recovering. Last Tuesday evening Geo. Mc- farland and Dick Murray engaged n controversy on the streets of Valentine that might have resulted leriously. McFarland was arrest- id and will have his trial Satur- lay. . - Elmer Cole and wife expect to cave next Monday morning for jrand Encampment , Wyo. where Vfr. Cole will engage in business.
