Miss Eda Broad ot Valentine
visited with Miss Bernice Kief a
few days last week. She is now
visiting with her aunt , Mrs , Edgar
Davis of "Woodlake.
Mr. Bert "Wilson , who left here
last fall with Jack Cronin and-
family , is back to this country.
He reports mud "hub deep57 in la.
He also says Mr. Cronin and fam
ily arc well and have no intention
of returning to the sand hills.
A Surprise party was given at
the home of John Kief Saturday
evening. Those present reported
a jolly good time.
* While Fred Lovejoy was putting
in a well for Mr. Peterson Mon
day evening , little LeEoy and
Tesla Peterson were looking
through a long pipe that lay near
by , The pipe had a sort of galva
nized rod running through it.
LeRoy , not knowing that Tesla
was at the other end , gave a sud
den push driving it through Tesla's
eye just above the eyeball. He
was taken to a physician as soon
as possible. Dr. Compton put 4 :
stitches in the eyelid. The little
lad was unusually brave , and did
not cry during the operation.

the Clerk of the Board of Trustees of the Village
of Woodlake. Nebraska , a petition accompanied
by a bond duly attested , said petition praying
that we be granted a license to sell malt , sp rit-
iious and vinous liquors in said Village of Wood
Lake. Cherry county , Nebraska for the year
endimr April 30.1904.
