Last Friday Major Gen . Bates
visited Ft. Niobrara to inspect the
Post and make recommendations.

they must have been favorable.
Will Haley , of Valentine , visited
a day with J. S. Harrington and
family this week. Messrs Haley
and Harrington used to be partners
in business at Valentine in ye olden

Mrs. O. W. Morey is visiting
relatives ahd friends at Dnrand ,

Chas. P. Jordan , of Rosebud , last
week purchased about 800 head of
stock cattle from F. W. Jersig at a j
cost of about $16000. Mr. Jordan

stockyards at Valentine.
Miss Fanny VanBtifkirk departed
Friday for her home at Gordon and
will stop for a visit in Merriman.
Miss VanBuskirk has be n doing
dressmaking in our city for more
than a year and Was formerly in
charge of Miss Efner's millinery
store. Much regret is expressed by
her friend : * because of her leaving
and we wish her a pleasant time
and an early return.
