short and at 4:30 : the Association ad
jonrned to the ice creamery of W. A
Danley and enjoyd a treat at his ex
pense , after which we took a drive out
to the hills.
Judge C Dana Sayers accompanied
the editor for a drive and when at the
top of Mount Pis-gah about three miles
south east of town we had another
photo taken sitting up against a big
rock on top of a mountain.
After returning to the city we ate
a bountiful supper and went over to
the opera hous" wl'.cie v.e lij-tene * ! li-
reminiscence * and newspaper life in
Central America by Frank A. Hairi-
Son of Lincolnhieh was entertaining
and instructive. 13nt , oli , how sleepy
some of us were who had been up the
night before on on'way up there. W.
F. Hay ward had a box of cigars on tap
at his shoe store and cordially invited
the boys to help themselves and come
again. The shoe store was a neat , well
kept store in which we predict that am
shaped foot could find a fit that would
be a comfort to the wearer. Wo met ,
oui friend , Dr. Weils of this phue who
seems to be doing veil. Many court
esies were shown the editors of which
we are unable to tell you all but the
editors will have a kindly remem
brances of Chadron and her hospitable
people.
The following resolution was adopt
ed :
Whereas : The E. V. E. A. met in
the beautiful city of Chadron on June
7 , 1902 and Whereas : the citizens of
Chadron extended to us all due courtesy
and kindness of a liberal and onerous
hearted people , therefore be it Ke.-oved ! :
that we the members of the E. V. E A
extend to them our heartfelt thanks
and due appreciation of their efforts
to make the meeting one of pleasuie. to
us individually and collectively and
especially to Brothers Efnerand Phipps
for their untiring efforts to make this
day one of the most pleasant of the
year. Also do we extend our heart
felt thanks and due apneciation to tl e
retiring officers who have so ably and
conscientiously performed their duties
during the past year ; to Manager
Looiner for his large and beautiful dec
orated opera iiouse ; to the Orchestra
for fine music rendered and to Brother
Harrison for his excellent and instruct
ive address.

W.A.Parker and son Don came
up from Wood Lake , Saturday ,
to attend the populist county con
vention. Mr. Parker informs us
that Otto Krasch was thrown
from a horse at Wood Lake one
day last week , the horse rearing
up and falling over backward.
Otto sustained a broken nose and
other injuries.
Frank Coombs , of Buffalo Lake ,
was brought ; to town Monday
and taken before the board of in
sanity. Some time ago ho had a
fall which hurt his head and he
was overcome by th } heat re jent -
ly , which seems to have unbal
anced his mind raid developed a
tendency to injure himself. It is
a case where a little of tha prop
er treatment will bring him
around all right again.
The telephone company have
been having a monkey and par
rot time in getting ready for bus
iness , the delay being caused by
the non-arrival of the cable cab
inet. It was shipped on time
and was caught in u wreck and
smashed. Another was shipped
and has tarried by the wayside
and cannot be located by a tracer.
A temporary cabinet has been
arranged and it is expected that
everything will be ready for
"hello central" this morning.
It is announced that the for
mal opening of the new Fraternal
hall will take place next Thurs
day evening. Following is the
