James Hughes killed several badgers
during last week.
We see that Dick Burdick has com
menced to till the soil.
Mr. Brown is having a new shingle
roof put on his house.
Mrs. A. W. Grooms visited at John
Grooms' Jr. last Sunday.
J. n. Sears , general merchant at
Sparks , was in Valentine Monday.
Everybody has commenced listing
this week except those who are too slow
to farm.
That was a bad snow we had last
week but we were looking for it as
there is so much wind in this locality.
Once more we ask that our bridge be
fixed up in decent shape for crossing , as
people crossing with heavy loads are in
immediate danger.

on a business trip.
R. J. Wilson and P. C. Galloway
went to Cody last week to hunt up
some strav cattle.
J. T. Galloway has lost a very va u-
able korse some time last week. It
answered by the name of Frank.
The Thompson boys have purchased
a donkey to work in the gold mine.
NOTE : They would like to have a few
more of them. They will pav a fair
price for them. Cash or cneck on de
livery for same.
RELIABLE.
Arabia Items.
A. Whetstone and family left their
place east of Arabia and will henceforth
occupy Webster's on the river.
We learn that A. Benson was taken
quite ill last week ; but we hope to be
able to report his recovery next week.
The ranchmen are now busy gather
ing their stock. On or about May 1 ,
many of them will deliver their cattle
for summer herding.
Fred Johnson , teacher of the Arabia
school , will give an entertainment on
the night of Friday , May 23. Will give
particulars another time.
The Arabia orchestra had a music
practice and business meeting last
week. Wonder if they were preparing
themselves to play another ball ?
Some of the neighbors ( none but mas
ons ) atteuded a lodge supper in Wood
Lake , Saturday , April 19th. They re
ported having pleuty of duck to eat.
Frank Iliggin Jr. intended to depart
for Canada last Wednesday , but it
seems that this country holds some par
ticular charm for him as hef has not
gone yet and ve hope that he may
abandon his high notions about that far
northern country and remain among us.
A large party of young people col
lected at the home of Miss Mary Higgin
. Saturday , April 19th and danced till
about dawn. Certainly no better time
could be enjoped py the boys and girls
than to gather at the home of some
frieud and spend the night as they did
there.

J. A. . Gee was a Kennedy caller the
first of the weak.
Mrs. Grange and daughter were Ken
nedy visitors last week.
J. n. Bachelor was a Valentine visi
tor the first of the week.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Richards were trad
ing at Kennedy Saturday.
Ben Bachelor was taking in the sights
at Kennedy one day last week.
The Pitcher boys have come back to
their claim after spending the winter
in Mo.
Ed Shriner and family of Thedford
are visiting friends and relatives in this
neighborhood.
M. Dunham has been hauling up lot.- ?
of wood and posts from Snake river this
fine weather.
Everybody is rejoicing over the com
ing of spring and green grass as the hay
is about all fed up.
Faddis & Steadman moved a large
bunch of cattle up to their Snake river
pasture last week ,
Mr. Baker one of cur enterprising
stockmen is going to move to Wood-
lake in a few days.
Mrs. Beekley returned home last Sat-
urdav after spending a month in Oma
ha with relatives.
Ed Richards has sold his cattle to the
O'Conner Cattle Co. , of Chesterfield for
a good round price.
Chas. Hale is doing more business
than anybody selling books ; he sells to
everybody he meets.
A. J. Walhngford , from over on the
Snake , was doing considerable trading
at Kennedy one day last week.
BROKEN-ARM.
Penbrook Items.
B. L. Graddy lost four head of cattle
in the storm the 22nd.
Mrs. E. L. Hutchinson has been quite
sick but is slowly mending.
Joe Hutchinson has had the lung fev
er but is p-ist all danger now.
Burt Hutchinson is living on the old
Newman place this summer.
The dance at Mr. Bruces was well
attended and all enjoyed themselves.
' Arthur Grooms and Miss Maude
Thompson were married last Sunday.
Jim Hutchimson left for White river
with Mr. Rounds last Tuesday morn
ing.
Henry Brown is building a new house
this week. Jim George and Jake How--
er are the carpenters.
Mr. Hide got stuck in a snow drift
Wednesday and was oblidged to leave
his buggy and wait for the thaw.
The school in the Graddy school
bouse will close May 6th. They will
have an entertainment in the afternoon.
The Penbrook people have new neigh
bors. Mr , Whetstone of the hay flats
moved on the Morrisson place last Sat
urday.

city visits at regular intervals. Their
