The .sip-head editor made a fool of
himself as usual and did just about
what we expected of him , What else
could eminato from such a source ? Jt
is needless for us to pa } ' any attention to
the false accusations uaado by this vile ,
h'lty tongsii'd , ioui mouthed impostor.
"We simply Inand him as an infam
ous-liar and the sap-headed fool need
not conjure himself into believing that
we don't flare to siy to his i'aco and in
his presence what u e have : aid in ptiut
It hurts perhaps but J on you know
that you area bulhlagging bulldo/-
er and that your family u-lations art
nothing to boast of. Our people ali-o
know that there is nothing in the vik
attack you made upon the editor of
this paper. They also kuo\v that Lyoi
as president last year of theE. V. E. A
held the sectietary's book and that ho
pro mitid to assist in getting up a pro
gram and that lie \ \ ould send us a lis
of the names of members so that we
could send invitations. Waiting upon
this anoganl fool was the cause of oui
delay in . ending the invitations and we
finally called the assistance of 13ro
.barker who itsponded and helped to
got up the program that you had prom
ised to help with and that you have nev
er yet explainedhy you did nothing
and finally wrote us when the time was
near at hand suggesting throwing u\ \
the li. Y. E. A. for this year , the
came down and roared because yot
were not carried on a chip fiom the
depot and had to aimo 3orfrself unti
breakfast was ready after perkaps
building up your hops s on making j
great reputation as president of the E
V. E. A. Your pride perhaps more
than justly iell and well it might aftei
the way } ou tieated us. This perhaps
explains why you made the desperate
jab ) f getting a jackotype inserted ii
the Sunday Uee.
Now , old sap-head , jou have done
your worst and 3 our whole concoctioi
is as we predicted and stated two weeks
ago , in copying some other plan witl
the exception that you have addec
words and phrases unbecoming to :
gentleman and show plainly that there
is no originality in you except of the
filthy , degenerate kind and fully proves
what we stated in the DJE.IGCHAT Fob.
27 , to be true. We do not care to have
anything more to say to this sap-head
ed degenerate of the Goidon Journa
: md mind you , Jloiace G. Lyon , what
we lw\e said of you , we would s-ay ii
your presence just as quickly and as
feaiicstly as we have said it in print.

" \Ve received two letters this week
for publication , which we give below :
Valentine Nebr. , March 12 , 1U02.
E ditor DEMOCRAT :
Did il over come to the mind of Mr.
W. S. .Barker , unaided I y a High School
Graduate , that his continued olTorts , to
wilfully and maliciously misrepiesent
and make odious the iwme of Rev.
Father Leehleitner. may land him in
an expensive law suit , possibly causing
him thereby total lo.ss of house and .
home , including printing press ? To
balance bis mind , we will enlighten
him today by a genuine story , for which
we can vouch as a true fact. Not long
since , a lady of our town , followed by
her pet canine Avas on her way home.
In the same direction a gentleman was
going , when the little beast commenced
to bark and baik. as if the whole town
of Valentine was on fire. Although its
mistress gave the assurance that the
little beast was perfectly harmless and
knew only to bark and not bite , and
calling it off repeatedly , it had to come
once more across the street and bark
this time as if all Cherry County was
, on fire. Less progress than one block
, was made , when two ft-rocibus dogs
maybe , they were coyotes pounced
; on the little beast. .Naturally there
were no longer sounds of barking heard
in consequence of painful wounds and
suie feelings ofconqueied pride and ar
rogance.
Mr. W. S. Uarker ! Draw from this
story your own moral lesson and be
have jourself ! It is needless to add
that "Mr. Uarker was not born and
raised in Belfast , Ireland , nor Rev.
Jbather Leehleitner in Cork , Ireland ,
although the nature of the controversy
might indicate such a climate.
Respectfully yours ,
CITIZENS.
Cody. Nebraska , March , 1)0 ! ) ? .
Who in the world is pretender , Mr.
Barker of the Republican:1 Are the
Cherry County records , especially the
actions ot the honorable board of
County Commissioners , their con
tracts and disbursements of funds for
the building of the new court house ,
through the courted } ' of the repuoli-
can Co. Clerk or his assistant not open
to inspection of this modern reformer
and pretender ? This modern Pharisee
calculutes in his proclamation to
arouse questions of serious doubts on
the hones' ' yarn ! integrity of this board.
Where in the world was tHs same
pretender , when years ago the sc call
ed "Valentine King' ' was in supreme
power and looted the count } ' treasur-
to such an extent that county war
rants could not he cashed for } 'ears to
come , when Cherry county was on the
versre of bankruptcy ? Is'o doubt an
exact compilation of amounts receiv
ed during those years by this pretend
er for services rendered to the county-
would form a grand and highly inter
esting chapter of amax.ement'and in
struction to the taxpayers and voters
of Cherry Co. ft is still fresli id the
memo:3' of the people how this pre
tender was successfully met by our
I neighoor. Mr. P. Sullivan , then one
of the county commissioners , ft is
very s.tran fe since this mode'rn re-
former-and pretender could no longer
inter-fere with the county funds the
financial standing oi the county im
proved s-o rnucu , warrants becoming
cash that Cnerry Co. enjoys the best
financial record of any county in the
state of Nebraska. It is still fresh
in the rrem > ry of the people what
kind of a title this pretender and
modern reformer conferred in print
on the venerable head of Mr. Sulli
van , the title ofBull Do < r of Cherry
Co. " But let usnot , foryet here , how1
this very pretender was titled in turn
by a Methodist Reverend who was his
rival in the printing1 business. It is
not exactly in the line of good society
to call a human being a "Skunk"
never-the-less this terrible animal in
its peculiar qualification is most con
spicuous for its horrible , nauseating
stench. RANCHMAN.
