It was a mistake that A. O. Coleman and wife visited the county seat , they only visited the city of Georgia. Dame nature has a bridge almost completed across tne river. Mr. Murphy of Crookston is work ing for John Adamsom at piesent. Jay Cunningham went over on the SnaKe rive - last week on business. Mr. Sewell , foreman of the Z T out fit passed down the river one day ibis week. Eddie M. Ilackler returned to Valen tine Tuesday after a weeks visit in this loacality. About the worst storm of the season occuredFriday aud Saturday. The thermometer registered 25 degrees be low zero Sunday morning. Sxoiv DROP Penbrook L. Munn is working for Mr. Uittle. F. Grooms went to Valentine Tues day. Jake Howard has moved down 011 t the river. " Beulah Powers Avas at the office Monday , Henry Grooms of Sparks was in this locality Monday. Frank Todd was ia this vicinity look ing for cattle the first of the week. James and Lew Hutchinson put in a cord of wood on short notice at the Giaddy school house. Mr. Hittle says he has a very bad cold , and also says he guesses he took in too much of the blizzard. Chester Grooms has been on the sick list for several days but is improving very slowly at this writing. P OUCUPINE Kennedy C old weather has come again and taking lots of hay. B. M. Faddis is a Kenney visitor during the'cold snap. . The black leg still stays around and takes one once in awhile. Gyle Jones keeps pretty close to the fire the last two or three days. Earnest Wilkinson and John Beek- ley were Kennedy visitors las > t Sunday. The cattle in this section are in fine shape and can stand some cold weather. The Valentine mail went up Sunday not being able to make the trip Satur day on account of the storm. Chas. Pole has been gathering up some wood from the Snake river , he don't intend to be caught in the cold. Arthur Thompson says his nose and a bad cold are the best friends he has got this winter ; because they stayith him. BROKEN-ABM L'cnbrook Items Arthur Grooms was in Norden Fri day evening. A special teacher's examination was held in Nordeu , January 24. Protracted meetings have been held at Norden during the last two weeks. Maggie Ogle died at Beatrice , Thurs day and was brought homo to Sparks to be buried. Bertha Davis has been called home from Mr. Black's on account of her mother's illness. Jim Hutchiuson killed a queer an- ii-jal Tuesday evening. Jc was about the size of a small dog , had a head something nko a snake , was gray in color with coal black legs and a black streak across it's nose , it was a pow erful fighter. After it had been dragg ed a mile and a half by a rope around il's neck the rope slipped off and it got up and ran half way across a field. NOT I. J. [ B. Sones had his corn fodder threshed. He says it makes excellent feed. - Some of the 'boys didn't get much sleep the night of the dance and had to take a nap at school. Miss May Fisher , who has been stay ing at Geo. Hills , attending bchoolre turned home last week. ' Jerry Jveley , Perry Warren and Wm. Glendening are up from Burwell on business and visiting old friends at Uocklord and Center. A surprise was given at the home of Fink Trogdan in honor of Mr. Trog- dan's birthday. A high time is report ed , wonder if Link feels the effects of it ? L. Cody moved his house the 23 , which he purchased of Perry War ren. He says he will have a house to live in now , the old house is tumbling down. J. P. Gardiner left Center witli his machine Tuesday after a weeks thresh ing at J. B. Sones. Mr. Howe , wno was with him , became quite famous telling fortunes.
