Nebraska State Fair , 19O1.
For thirty-two years past , good crops
or poor crops , the Nebraska State
Board of Agriculture , true to its duty ,
has annually presented to the public ,
at its Fairs , the products , resources
and possibilities of this wonderful
young State , the flower of the New
West , a region of couutiy known until
a few ears ago comparatively , as a
barren waste. These pioducts have
been found , on actual examination
without superiors anywhere , both as to
quality and yields. This year corn
and vegetables , have been badly
scorched , iu some parts of the State , i ; .
is true. And yet , in many other paits ,
they are good. Small grain never was
better.
The Fair Management is going right
along with the Fair as usual , this year ,
Sept. 2 to 6. Have greatly improved
the Old Fair Grounds , adjoining Lin
coln , lately purchased by the State. A
new woven wire fence has been placed
around the whole grounds ; all the old
buildings .have been repaired , painted
and put in the best conJition. Nine
teen new , large and commodious burns
for live stock have been constructed.
Water from City Water , works in all
parts of the grounds Rail Roads , both
passenger and freight , run into tiie
grounds. Reduced Rail Road passen
ger lates fioin all stations in the State.
The Secretary announces that the out
look for exhibits were never better
Let the people all attend this great
Fair , and with their families spend a
few days recreation profitably and

Teachers examination was held Fri
day and Saturday of last week.
Prof. Searsons instructions here were
of the very highest class and although
we may never meet him again , in in
stitute his reputation as an educator of
high standing , will ever remain secure.
Miss Lucy "Williams of Norfolk began
work in our institute Monday moaning
of the second week , Iler instruction
in primary reading , numbers , lan
guages and seat work has not failed to
bring to the attention of every teacher
the need of better work throughout the
primary grades.
State Supt. Fowler spent Monday of
the second weeTvisiting with us-giv-
ing much useful information and many
valuable hints. Supt. Fowlers' lecture
in the evening was such as to impress
everyone with the absolute necessity of
practical educational work.

Miss Belle Newell of Grand Island
came to our county institute that she
might avail herself of Miss Williams
excellent instruction in primary meth
ods. '

Valentine , Nebraska , on Saturday ,
September 14 , 1901 at 10 o'clock A. M.
for the purpose of electing eight dele
gates to the state convention to be held
at Lincoln September 17 , 1901. Also
to a county convention on haturday
September 23 at 10 o'clock A. 31. to
nominate county officers for the follow
ing offices towit : Treasurer , cleik ,
judge , surveyor , sheriff , coroner , sup
erintendent of public instruction and
commissioner ot the 3rd district , and
