It is reported that Robert Paddis'
dwelling was struck and Chas. Sher
man who was .sitting in the doorway
of his hvery stable says the cinders
Hew Into his face and he thinks the
lightning probably struck in the yard
in front of the barn.
Shortly after six o'clock Tuesday
. evening the dwelling house owned by
Robt. Robinson on the north-east corn
er of Cherry and Virginia streets was
struck by lightning in two places.
The first\usilation rippedltie'chiinney ,
located in the center of the roof , 'from
top to .bottom , a portion of the electric
fluid being deflected along the rafters
toward the "south thence down the
south wall into the ground , ripping off
a square yard or so of plaster in its
passage. Immediately afterwards a
second bolt struck tlie' roof near the
eaves on the east side , ripping off a few
shingles and partly demolishing a
screen door at the same time filling the
loom with a blinding glare of light and
partially stunning the family , who were
at the supper table. -

cincts to meet in County Convention in
Valentine , Nebraska , - on Saturday ,
September 14 , 1901 at 10 o'clock A. M.
for the purpose of electing eight dele
ates to the state convention to be held
it Lincoln September 17 , 1901. Also
to county convention on baturday
September 23 at 10 o'clock A. 31. to

ng offices towit : Treasurer , clerk ,
