Bristol and family were in from their home near Sparks Tues day and tells us that there was a travelling insurance man in their country during the past week trying to write insurance for the farmers. We are in that business and know something about it. Any man who is not located where you can find him when you want him } 'ou should be ware of. Beware of any man whom you don't know and is not located where you can do business with him at any time. John Foster , a time honored farm er livintr down toward Sparks , visited the Editor Monday of this week while in town. He met with an insurance agent who told him that the Mutual insurance was not good and that it only flourished while the populists were in power and now that the re publicans were in power they would soon be knocked out. Is this the plan of a traveling airent wh ( ra you "ee today while 3'ou are paying1 mon- ev for insurance and when you want to adjust some. diiTerence he is no where to be found ? It is good policy to do business with men you know and can find if anything goes wrong. Peter Hoffman came clown Mond y morning from Nenzel and swore out a complaint against Frank Hoffman and A. M. Birchard for assault attd battery with intent. Mr. Hoffman says that he had gone to Cody to get some repairs for his mowing machine and was attack ed simultaneously by both Birchard and Frank Hoffman and beaten un mercifully until Elden Sparks told the men if they didn't desist he would take a hand in the matter. Mr. Hoff man claims to know nothing of why he was assaulted except that they accused him of writing a letter det rimental to them of which Peter Hoffman claims to know nothing. Birchird and Hoffman were brought before Judge Towne and believeing that it would be the cheapest for them plead guilty and were fined $1.00 each and costs. They claimed Peter Hoffman had talked about them in a wrongful manner and blamed him for misusing them. Frank Burdick was thrown trom his horse and very badly bruised be sides having his colar bone broken , his left cheek was cut through into his mouth two and one half inches long and four teeth knocked out. Afterwards he got upon his horse and again proceeded to his brother's where he finally rode up holding to the saddle horn. He was unable to explain how he was hurt at first and his brother hitched up to a buggy and brought him to the Post where the Post surgeon assisted by acting hospital steward , C. M Hunter dress ed his injuries , bandaged his head , set the breast bone and sewed up the rent in his face. Frank Burdick had been working for Newt Grooms but was in the habit of going home of Sundaj'6 and generally rode his pony which was pretty wild and at times bucked pretty hard with him. He can talk but very little and does not hear much. After being cared for oy the Post Doctor he was brought up town and left at Hornback's hotel.
