was shot and killed at Crawford last
Saturday evening by a bartender

fused to pay for 40 cents worth of
drinks

chant was in town on business Sat
urday Mr Parker has just built a
store building where his old one was
located moving the old building back
and continuing his business in it dur
ing the erection of the new store
which is 24x40 ft
J W Marroll was arraigned before
Judge Towne last Saturda charged
with forgery but waived examination
and was bound over to district court
under 500 bonds which he was unable
to furnish and consequently has been
enrolled as a regular boarder at the
Hotel de Layport
C A Johnson the Wood Lake ban
ker was transacting business in
Valentine and we learned from
him that some one was about to real
ize the long felt want about start
ing a newspaper at his town Mr
Johnson didnt say whether it was to
be a coat tail hold of some paper
or a genuine local paper
Isaac Sageser was born in the state
of Kentucky on August 18 1818 and
departed this life December 15 1900
at the residence ot his son Frank M
Sageser in this cit after a few days
of illness caused from an attack of
pneumonia Age 82 years 3 months
and 27 days Mr Sageser went from
Kentucky to Ohio when he was about
21 years old and was united in mar
riage to Miss Anna Shaklee of that
state at about the age of 25 Into
this union were born 9 children all of
whom were boys His wife and four
of the boys preceeded him in death
Mrs Sageser died abouc seventeen
years ago They moyed from Ohio to
Illinois and from thence to Iowa and
came to Nebraska thirteen years ago
and settled at Chambers in Holt
county Almost a year ago father
Sageser came to Valentine and lived
with his son until his decease The
funeral took place from the residence
at 130 p m on Sunday the day fol
lowing his decease and the body was
laid to rest in the cemetery w eBt of
town services being conducied by
