eral times this summer have got into serious trouble in Alliance Cline shot and piobably fatally wounded B C Richardson a saloon keeper Three shots were fired two of which took effect upon Richardson one en tering the stomach and one passing through the top of his shoulder and penetrating the neck The third shot struck H Dismer proprietor of a restaurant in which the shooting occurred while he was trying to stop the row The cause of the trouble as near as we can gather was this The musician and his wife had been playing in Richardsons saloon sever al hours previous to the shooting The woman took offense at some remark made in the saloon and Cline started a fight and was knocked down by Richardson who immediately turned both out of the saloon and all trouble was supposed to be over Cline how ever procured a 38-caliber-revolver and went on a hunt for Richardson with the above result Sheriff Sweeny has charge of Cline and is holding him to await the result of Richardsons injuries School Land Leasing The Commissioner of Public Lands and Buildings will offer about 50000 acres of school land for lease at pub lic auction at Valentine at the coun ty treasurers office beginning at 9 am September 18 1900 under the following provision of the new school land law If after using due diligence to lease said landat an annual rental of six per cent upon the appraised valu ation the commissioner is unable to do so he may offer the same for lease at less than the appraised valuation and lease it to the person or persons who will pay six per cent on the high est offered valuation as annual rent al if in his judgment it is to the best interests of the state to accept such bid Persons desiring to examine the lands to be leasedmay secure lists of the same showing the present ap praisement thereof as well as any other information upon application to the County Treasurer or by ad dressing the Commissioner at Lincoln t coln At the beginning of the auc tion the commissioner will
