Novel Trip to Boston
The Railroad Social at Cornell
Hall last Saturday niffht given by

Curly Huggins Loses a Poll
Curly Huggins a stockman from
the reservation came through here
on his way east Tuesday to buy some
blooded stock was entertained by our
gentle zephyrs that evening to the
tune of 175 He had the money tied
up in a wad when a gust of wind
dived down in his pocket while near
the depot and sent that roll of money
to the four quarters of the globe or
some other place out of reach When
a Nebraska zephyr starts in to do a
job it would just as leave turn a man

Freight Train Wrecked
East bound freight No 26 picked up
nine cars of ice here Saturday even
ing and left town about five hours
late When about a mile this side of
Ainsworth a broken flange on the
rear truck of one of the cars made
the car jump the track and a general
smashup resulted Eight cars of coal
and ice were piled up on and along
the track and as a result west bound
passenger No 3 arrived in Valentine
about 15 hours late and east of the
wreck No 4 was 7 hours behind her
schedule Fortunately no one was in
jured but several thousand dollars
worth of property was destroyed

men of the World has succeeded in
obtaining up to date 24 members
for the camp which will be organized
here next Monday night by which
time it is thought not less than 30 ap
plications will be in Many of our
most prominent business men are in
terested in this work and the camp
will start in fine shape It is every
mans duty to carry insurance for the
benefit of his wife his children or his
parents and there is no time like the

Forty Cars a Day i
The railroad company is putting up
about 40 cars of ice per day at Lake
MiHnechaduza and is working a force
of 75 men and 25 teams The only ac
cident that has occurred was when
Mert Holsclaw ran a pair of ice tongs
into his knee yesterday
Young Men Organize
The Young Mens Club was or
ganized Monday night and quarters
securea in tne rooms formerly
pied by Dr Dwyer just south of the
court house A meeting will be held
next Monday night for the purpose of
electing officers
Deaths Near Brownlee
B W Pearson of Brownlee was in
town Tuesday on business and made
this office a v ery pleasant visit From
him we learn that W L Merz two
oldest children died at their home
southwest of Brownlee recently of
diphtheria
