Daniel Evans and Chas Lane the

ed Tuesday and had a preliminary
hearing yesterdav on a charge of a-
sault and rohberv preferred by Mntose
Reaver a half breed Indian from Pine
Hidge in town for medical treatment
On the request of the defendants the
case was continued until Fridav In

ing with Sheriff Strong It seerm
that the half breed broke a 20 hill

noon was discovered on the prairie
south of town in a drnnkpn condition
with his suspenders gone and trousers

covered that his money was gone
Suspicion immediately fastened on
Lane who was wearing the IJpavers
coat and Evaiu who had been in com
pany with the two during the day and

filed as stated Evans is a stranger
