that there is no truth in the rumor
she has been urged to run for governor
of Kansas and that moreover the only

This country is not only selling steel
rails to England for its India railways
but it is furnishing passenger cars for
the London Southeastern railway and
recently an American firm was award

for furnishing the traction plant of the

way In all these cases Americans
have obtained the -contracts because
of being the lowest bidders The

Two weeks ago this paper said
A rattlesnake about h feet long was
skilled on the crossing near the court
house Friday night EJ Davenport
and Capt Archer killed the reptile
which had eight rattles on its taih
The Ainsworth Home Rule unkind
ly remarks that Some rattlesnakes
carries their rattles in their mouth
some in their vest pocket but this one
carries eight rattles on its tail and
the Longpine Journal wants to know
df rattlesnakes usually carry their rat
Ales on other portions of their anatomy
This is unkind We knew the eru
dite editors of the papers mentioned
knew where the rattles were usually
carried but TnE Democrat being
essentially family newspaper its edi
tor deemed it wise to state exactly the
part of the snake upon which the rat
tles were found in order to instruct its
more youthful readers At any rate
