The 10000 school bonds have been
bold to an eastern buyer C H 1m
hoff of Lincoln engineered the sale
The board receives the face value of
the bonds 10000 and it is very prob
able that the foundation at least of
the new school building will be builfc
this summer
The county commissioners this week
rearranged the commissioner districts
of the county Enlow precinct being
tauen from the third and added to the
second district and Schlegel being ta
ken from the second and added to the
first district
No action will be taken at this ses
sion of the board on the location of
the new court house but the north
east corner of Main and Virginia
streets opposite present building seems
to be the favorite with the corner of
Main and Elmore second choice
All claims led against the county
prior to June 1 1897 have been al
lowed bv the board It wiJl not be
long until the county will be doing
business on a cash basis regardless of
the stories of anti bond men
It is reported that a protest against
the registration of the court house
bonds has been or will be filed with
the state auditor
Alex Altschuler of Lincoln was in
town yesterday looking over the pa
pers in the Trester case -It is pre
sumed that efforts will be made to
obtain a reduction of Trusters ten
in the pen

W E Haley were elected members of
the school board to succeed themselves

and the last two years Mr Haley hav
ing been appointed last fall to succeed
J T Keelej who resigned on account
of leaving the district
D II Thurston an attorney of Val
entine stopped in Bassett a short time
Thursday on his way to OXeill Mr
Thurston was a candidate for the office
ot county attorney in Cherry county
last fall and was beaten by only nine
votes He is a cousin of non John
M Thurston and is an applicant for
a position in the land office at Valen
tine which he expects to secure

While visiting on the reservation
and incidentally shooting a few plover
Tom bkinner was pounced upon by a
squad of Indian police charged with
shooting antelope and taken to the
llosebud agency to stand trial Tom
says he was kept there a couple of
days and fed on great gobs of soup
and then turned loose If you want to
make Tom hot just pass him the soup

At a meeting of the school board
last night Miss Lucy Brunei of Knox
county was elected teacher in thp in
termediate department of the public
schools to succeed Iva Efner resigned
at a salary of 50 per month Miss
Bruner is a teacher with seven years
experience is a graduate of Wayne
Xorraall4and comes to Valentine very
highly recommended The board
