culture of sugar beets
Appreciating the fact that we can
produce from beet grown in the Uni

consume and in a short time become
exporters of this staplearticle we the
undersigned irrespective of party
atiilations do most respectfully but
earnestly urge upon you our Represen
tative iiv congress to advocate meas
ures which will protect the producers
of beet sugar and prevent highly pro
tected foreign sugar makers receiving
from their respective governments
large export bounties from monopoliz
ing American markets under an ad
valorem duty and also prevent the
AmericamJSugar Trust from destroy
ing or preventing the rapid develop
ment of the beet sugar industry in this
country which if protected by a
specific duty bounty or both would
insure to our farmers a most promis
ing and profitable crop uuattended by
speculative influences and give em

our people the far reaching benefits of
which will permeate every section of
