ranchmen and his illness causes universal regret He is1 under the care of Dr J C Dwyer and his sister Mrs Mary Martin and partner T J Eoley of Council Bluffs together with two trained nurses from Omaha are taking care of him At present writing his condition is improving and no serious apprehensions are felt for his ultimate recovery Newspapers all over the state are roasting the recent fair held at Omaha and call it a rank fake Some of them are grieved over one thing andA some over another and when the grievances are all added together it makes a pretty big sum Eortunately or un lortunately tbis paper was not present so can say nothing either for or against the fair Of one thing it sure though and that is that Omaha is rapidly obtaining a reputation which is to say the least unenviable in more ways than one Her newspapers are everlastingly at war and cannot get to gether on any subject and her people seem all absorbed in self What should be a second Chicago will always re main a third rate city if something is not done to promote harmony OUR SCHOOL DEPARTMENT Miss Sarah Simpson the Grammar school is attending Miss Jessie Bowring from Chadrbn I is numbered among the as study of quotations and the reading of stories In the afternoon nature study forms part of her work Miss Callen besides her musical exercises has games tending to tram the senses to become more accurate sometimes varying this with gymnastics while Mrs Crawford has ganies and gymnastics Georgia News iteuis are as scarce as free silver bankers Our school will commence Oct 5th The present prospect is very favorable for a good term of school The cold wind of the past few days has developed an inclination to whistle last year tunes through the threadbare portion of our trousers We wonder if Wannamaker will do the Sunday school act for McKinley as he did for Harrison so as to give the campaign a moral send off This is the time of year when the burrs stick in the mane and foretop of the old mare and when she gently swipes you in the face at milking time you nrast be able to swear in seven languages to do justice to your feelings The prophets are foretelling a long and severe winter
