Joann Moore Elected Noble Grand Rebekah Lodge Here The IOOF Hall was the scene of several activities at the meet ing of Bud of Promise Rebekah Lodge held Monday night .Meeting was called to order by Virgie Fitchorn, Noble Grand, with roll call answered by a good attendance of the member ship and visitors present. Election of officers was on the agenda with Joann Moore, elec ted Noble Grand; Margaret Carr, Vice Grand; Elva Aylor, secretary; Mary Nelson, treas urer; Freida Stibal, Degree Cap tain and Edith Akeson Trustee. The remaining officers will be appointed by the newly elected Noble Grand. Installation of officers will be held the first meeting in Janu ary, with officers from Omaha as the Installing team. -Alice Armstrong, assembly president of Nebraska, from Gordon was Introduced by the conductor, and given the honors of the lodge. Mrs. Oordon out lined her program for the year, and spoke on the various duties and projects of the Rebekah Lodges. Hallie Spry of the Visiting Committee reported on the ill and shut-In members that she had called on, and cards that were sent. Meetng adjourned, and a pro gram was presented under the direction of Joann Moore and Ina Sell. Penny and Vickl Moore, Pamela Sell and Sondra Payton appeared on the program in a piano solo, tap dancing accord ion solo, and singing. . The district officers of Omaha were guests of the local group and each presented a gift. Elva Aylor and Ina Sell of this lodge are district officers. . Serving on the decorating was Margaret Carr. ' Hostesses were Mmes. Helen Hurst, Helen Phelps, Pearl Myers, Hallie Spry, Ruth Clark, Joann Moore, Wilma Rice, and Edith Akeson. 7 Decorations were carried out in the Thanksgiving theme. Brian Paul Has fifth Birthday Brian Timothy Paul, son of Jlr. and Mrs. O. Kenneth Paul, Lincoln, celebrated his 5th birth day Monday with an afternoon iirthday party. - Guests were Seattle Hughson, .Collin Hughson, Dennis Buster, Theresa Buster, Robert Garcia, nd Richard Garcia. Prizes were won by Collin Hughson, and Dennis Buster. i Games were played, gifts opened, and cake and ice cream !were served. Coffeee cake, and -Ice cream were served to the "mothers. " Monday evening, Brian cele brated with his parents, sister Pamela, and brothers, David and Ronny. A poem was read by Mrs. Ray mond Cook, "Truest Gratitude". As each member brought their Thank Ottering Box to the little church, a thank offering was read. Roll call was taken with 19 members present. A report on World Community Day was given by Mrs. Royal Smith, also In charge of buying and tilling medical kits. Reports were given by Mrs. Glen Wetenkamp, secretary ofj Spiritual Life; Mrs. Art Weten kamp, secretary of Christian So-j cial Relations; Mrs. Willis Cole on the spaghetti supper and j thanked all who helped. Guest Day will be at the Dec meeting. In charge of the pro gram is Mrs. Boyd Rouse, Mrs. Robert Cole and Mrs. Fred Arn old. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Art Toman and Mrs. Rob ert Cole- Berglunds to Observe Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Earl Berglund will be honored on their 25th anniversary at Open House In Zion Lutheran Church parlors at Creighton, Nebr., Sunday, Nov. 24. Mrs. Berglund Is the former Marie Speck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Speck, Platts mouth. The honorees have two daugh ters, Mrs- John (Nancy) Condon, Creighton; Mrs. Neal Mary Helen) Stingley, Norfolk; and three grandchildren. Arrangements for the Open House are being made by their daughters. DAR Chapter Observes 50th Year Members of the Jonathan Cass, Daughters of the American Revolution, observed their 50t.h anniversary Friday night in the home of Mrs. Abbie Wiseman, Weeping Water. 1 Members of the Fonteneile Chapter DAR were 1 n v 1 1 e d j guests. This chapter celebrated ! its 50th year lat year. i Mrs. Wiseman's tabie settings for the 6:30 luncheon was beau-! tifully appointed with arrange- ments in gold, depicting the 50th year. Miss Evelyn Wolph gave the program giving the history of the 50 years of this chapter. Mrs. Gobelman Hosts Visitors Mrs. Mollie C. Gobelman was hostess Monday night In her home honoring a visiting friend, Mrs. Avis Shellenbarger. Mrs. Shellenbarger of California Is here as a houseguest of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Shellenbarger. There were two tables of bridge players. Mrs. Walter Glea son won first prize, and Mrs. Fred Lugsch won second. The honoree was presented a guest prize. Mrs. Gobelman served a des sert lunch. There were a few ladies pres ent who formed the KB Bridge Club years ago. It was originally started by 12 wives of business men here. L. Hcinrich was host ess at her home Monday after noon to the Pla tsmouth Garden Club. Mrs. R. B. Keller, Mrs. Clarence Akeson and Mrs. Arthur Lambert were co-hostesses. Fifteen members responded to roll call, giving some Thanksgiv ing Thoughts. Mrs. Glt:r Vallery was a guest. Mrs. Marjory Cole, president, opened the meeting, welcoming all and reading a poem "Novem ber Wind." Notes were read from Mrs. L. W. Egenbenrer who is recover ing from an accident in Ban Francisco, and a card signed by each member sent to her at 2323 Frultvale Ave., Oakland, Calif Routine business included dis cussion of the Flower Show at the King Korn Karnival in Sep tember, and suggestions made for next years participation; also judging of trailer courts; and other items of interest to Garden Ciub members, in plan ning programs for the new club year, which begins in February, 1964. The club has no January meet ing. Election of officers was in order and resulted in the follow ing being named lor the new year: Mrs. L. Harland Hurst, pres ident; Mrs. W. L. Heinrich, sec retary; Clara Weyrich, treas urer; Helen Hunter was re elected vice-president. Mrs. Cole expressed thanks and appreciation for the co-operation she had received during her five-year term as president She is leaving soon for a visit with relatives in Arizona and California. Members brought unique Christmas and holiday arrange ments and explained making of same. The December meeting, clos ing the Club's year, will be the annual Christmas party and din ner at the Blue Flame Room of the Gas Company. Miss Hunter is chairman, assisted by Mrs. Frank Llnder. A 50c gift ex change will be a part of the pro gram. Date has been changed from regular meeting day to the second Tuesday, Dt:e. 10, at 12:30 p.m. for this party. The afternoon closed with serving refreshments by the hostesses. Mrs. Hurst won the special gift prize. Mrs. Mynard Club The Mrs. Mynard Extension Ciub, members held the Novem ber meeting at the home of Mrs. Art Toman. A lunciie-jn was served by the hosted prior to the business meeting. Meeting was called to order by the president, Jean Wiles. All read the Nebraska Home Ex tension Club Creed. The eltjht members answered roll by tell ing of holiday foods traditionally served in their families. There will be a cookie and gift exchange at the December meet ing. Lessons and hostesses were decided for the forthcoming year. The lesson "Favorite Holiday Foods" was presented by Rober ta Cole. Emily Tomaa explained "Freezing Pies." Two new members were wel comed into the club, Mrs. Har old Onwiler and Mrs. Travis Greening. The December meeting will be at the home of Mr.?. Leonard Peterson with a "Show-off Par ty" conducted by Mrs. Tom Grosshans and Mrs. Wayne Hendrix. St. Paul's Church Circle Two Meets Circle Two of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ met Tuesday evening in the church parlors. Mrs. Dean Meisinger conduc ted the lesson, and the devotion aLs. She with a number of mem bers presented a Thank Offer ing Program. Reports were given by Mrs. John Parkening and Mrs. Ray mond Hild concerning the bazaar and the annual church supper this past month. The Christmas Gathering is to be Dec. 10, with all attending to bring a dollar gift for the exchange. Circle Two will not have a bake sale in December or coffee social this month. A thank you note was read from Mrs. L. W. Egenberger. The Birthday Song was sung to Laura Meisinger. Meeting closed by all repeating the Lord's Prayer. Door prizes winners were Mrs. Veldon Stoehr and Mrs. Lester Soil. Refreshments were served to the 27 members by hostesses, Mmes. Call Your News And Social Hems to 2141 Miss Steinhoff Weds Dan Stohlmann AVOCA (Special) Miss Shir ley Ann Steinhoff became the bride of Danny Stohlmann in a 6:30 candlelight ceremony Nov. 15 at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Glenn Shultz read the double ring ceremony. The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Steinhoff, Avoca. The bridegroom Is t h e son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Stohlmann, Louisville. White pom poms and candle labra decorated the altar and chancel. The bride, given in marriage by her father, appeared in a gown of silk mist bombazine and re-embroldered chantilly lace over bouquet taffeta. The sculp tured bodice, highlighted with shimmering paiiettes and seed pearls, was fashioned witn a sa brina neckline. The long sleeves tapered to the traditional bridal point over the wrists. The voluminous skirt cascaded into an atsie-wide train. Her double veil of French illusion fell In a circle from a matching jeweled coronet. She carried a single orchid with a purple and white carnation on a white Bible. Miss Linda Rohlfs, Omaha, a first cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Carolyn Stohlmann, sister of the bride groom, and Miss Lynette Kepler. Cindy Steinhoff, sister of the bride was flower girl, Dennis Stohlmann was rlngbearer. Mrs. Roger Ross and Robert Stohlmann were candeliighters. Lee Dumke, Avoca, was best man. Steve Slohlmann and Maurice Lange were groomsmen. Seating the guests were mil ton Leefers, Leland Albers, Lyle Stohlmann, and LeNeal Stohl mann. Mbs Mary Ann Leefers, Lin coln, was organist; Henry Hunt erman, soloist. FAIKLAXD GIANTS SOUTH ASHLAND (Special) The Fairland Giants Baby Beef 4-H Ciub had the first meeting of the new club year at the Leonard Roeber home Thursday evening. Eight new members joined the club, they are David and Roger Lambert, Marvin Sowards, ocott Stickney, Steven Stander, Andy and Carla Weston and Nadine Erickson, now making thirteen members. New officers elected were Lester Roeber, president; Cindy Weston, vice president; Roger Erickson, secretary; Daryl Erick son, treasurer; and Leroy Roe ber, news reporter. Smiths Celebrated 25th Wedding Date Mr. and Mrs. Walter II Smith celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Saturday and Sun day, Nov. 19 and 17. On 8aturday morning they at tended ti ss at St. John's and received the special blessing from Father Mike, assistant pas tor. That evening a family dinner was enjoyed at Wtnterset Inn. On Sunday afternoon and eve ning friends and relatives cf Mr and Mrs. Smith visited them at their home in Piattsmouth ex tending their best wishes to the couple. The eight children of Mr. and Mrs. Smith were home for the occasion with sons Roger here from Marquette University and Tom from Notre Dame Univer sity. Luncheon was served at 1:30 by the hostesses, Mrs. Otto Lut., Mrs. Richard Wohlfarth and Mrs. Rex Wilson. The business meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Mrs. Otto Pitz. Minutes of the last meeting were read and ap proved. Plans were made for the Christmas party with a gift ex change Dec. 3 at 1 o'clock at tlic church parlors. Mrs. Edith Akeson, president, opened the meeting with all present praying The Lord's Prayer. Nine members answered roll call with something pertaining to Veteran's Day. During the business meeting, plans were made for the annual Christmas covered dish dinner and party to be at the December meeting, with a gift exchange at the home of Mrs. LtRoy Covert. Mrs. Covert gave the lesson, "Garden Sense on Pest Con trol", followed with garden gim micks read b; each one present. A social hour followed with games being played and prizes won by Mrs. Mary Worsham, Mrs. Max Bowman and Mrs. Covert. The hostess served lunch. Junior Hi Council The Junior High Studwit Council meeting was called to order by vice president, P a m Brookhouser, In the absence of president Max Llnder.
