Antelope Inventory LINCOLN A past-season antelope aerial survey of the North 8!oux management unit was conducted by the Game Commission to obtain popula tion data, hunting mortalities, and number of cripples. Observers spotted 73 antelope during the inventory. Two car casses and one cripple were also recorded. Based on 75 per rent hunter-use of the unit within the survey area, crippling was calculated at slightly more than 3 per cent and mortalities at 6 4 per cent. With an estimated legal kill of 250 pranghorns, th? post-season survey Indicated an antelope population of 584, while the sum mer survey showed 1,004 animals in the area. An additional 24 an telope were removed due to crippling and hunting mortali ties. A total of 148 remain tin accounted for. This may be due to movement, summer mortali ties, or sampling error, techni cians said. There apparently was no ap preciable Interstate antelope movement this year. During the past two years, post-season populations were greater than the July population, Indicating considerable Interstate move ment.
