Mrs. Carl Zaiser entertained 22 ladies at a coffee at the cafe Saturday for Mrs. Louis Ruhge's birthday. Mrs. Martha Hillman attended a hairdressers convention in Lin coln Sunday. Her husband met her later and took her out for dinner for her birthday. Mrs. Elmer Hallstrom carried out a .surprise dinner for her hus band at the cafe Thursday eve ning. It was a few days prior to his birthday so he didn't suspect that was what it was for. Mrs. Charles Marshall accom panied Mrs. Herbert Hell to Omaha for the State Cancer meeting hint week. Mrs. Harold Dumke accompa nied Mrs. D. W. Dwyer to Amir icus, Ga., over the week end where Mr3. Dwyer will make her home. Mrs. Dumke enjoyed the country estate and the beautiful scenery in the south. Harold Winters enter tained with a bridal shower for Miss Grant who will be married Oct. 6th to a former Eagle resi dent, Billy Winters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Winters of Ben- net, formerly of Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Umland of Palmyra, (formerly of Eagle) and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scat- tergood attended the Open House, at Alvo, Sunday after noon and also called at the John Fischer home in Eagle, during the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vickers en joyed a 4-day trip to the North west areas of Nebraska, includ ing Ft. Robinson, Crawford, Chadron and State Park, Halsey National Forest, and Ainsworth, Nebraska, and all the most in teresting scenic areas. Miss Helen Westlake, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Westlake, underwent an appen dectomy last Wednesday at St Elizabeth's Hospital, recovering satisfactorily, and able to return home on Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Oerald Anderson of Oillette, Wyo., and his father, Mr. Harry Anderson, of Seward, called at the home of latter's son, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Ander son Sunday. The latter's sons, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford An derson Jr. and families of Lin coln also called at the parent's home In the afternoon. Howard Rathe was elected president, Arthur Duerschner, Lincoln, vice president, Dale Bruning, Bruning, Nebr., was elected as president of National Brother hood of the American Lutheran Church, Carl Mlddendorf, Brun ing, vice president of district Brotherhood. Rev. Shutz was in a discussion group. The next meeting of the district brother hood will be here at First Luth eran Church in 1964. The Supper Club met with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marquardt Sun day evening, Jack Norris, Col umbus, was a guest. Mrs. Harvey Dettmer was one of the hostesses at a shower for Miss Karen Roettger at Syra cuse Library recently. Miss Ro ettger and Richard Kuennlng were married Sept. 20.
