Todd Mr. and Mrs. Bob Finkle and family of Plainview, Neb., have been vacationing in Florida, where thev visited the Jim Finkle family. On their return trip home Saturday' evening, they were callers at the Bill Nixon home In Nebraska City and at the home of Wilbur Fey's. They were overnight visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Jchn McQuin and family of Bellevue. Mr. Finkle is a brother cf Mrs. McQuin and a former rea.der.t of the Union vi cinity. Miss Rachael Taylor of Phoenix, Ariz., ls a houseguest the past two weeks of Mrs. Elsie Porter. They were guests at a dinner on Sunday, July 21, at Ne braska City at the home of Mr. an Mrs. Carl Peters. Other guesU were: Rose Banning of Alvo, Mr. a.vl Mrs. Joe Banning and son Luclan, Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Banning and Mrs. Francis Smith of Los Moll.ios. California. Several guests present were being honored at the dinner as they were having birthdays. They were Mrs. Elsie Porter, Mrs. Rose Banning and Lucian Banning. Mr. and Mrs. John McQuin aid family of Bellevue and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mougey and Mary Jo were supper guests of Mrs. L. B. Mougey last Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. MervLi Beherns are vacationing for a week at the Lake of the Ozarks. Mr. and Mrs. Don Becker and family learned of a severe hail storm at Phoenix, Arizona re cently. The Beckers are former residents of Phoenix and own property there. They decided to go to Phoenix to learn of any damage that might need atteintion. They left Nehawka last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Donald McQuin and daughter. Patty of Under wood, Iowa drove to Marlon, South Dakota last Thursday morning where they spent the day with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Becker and grandson Kevin. They returned to Underwood that evening. Mrs. Hollls Banning and Mrs. Kathryn Harrah of Nebraska I City honored Mrs. Helen Garner Lund with a bridal shower last Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Banning. Out of tow.i guests 'were Mrs. Nina Upton, Mrs. i Kathryn Harrah of Nebraska City and Mr. and Mrs. Keith j Henry of Tecumseh. Fourteen guesU attended. Beginning Aug. 4, Union Post Office will be closed on Sunday and all holidays at 9:30 a.m. in stead of 10 a m. o'clock as before. But they report "it was good to be safely at home again". Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Dawson of Kansas City have been hou.e guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wolfe. They returned to their home Monday morning after a week's visit. Mr. and Mrs. John McQuin. Johnny and Maureen of Bellevue. enjoyed a week's vacation at the Lakeside of Lake Okiboji, Iowa, with their friends Dr. and Mrs. Jim Frans and daughters of Mil ford, Nebraska. Jesse Dysart, who suffered a stroke over a week ago, remains in a critical condition. Mrs. Dy .sart ls now a patient in St. Mary's Hospital undergoing a series of tests. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Todd, Jr., has been a small hospital for over a week. The three little daughters and little son have all been sick with what the doctors are calling "Summer Flu". Union has been having a lot of cases of this "bugs" visit. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Balfour have had a full schedule of ac tivities the past week. On Friday evening they attended a birth day dinner at Clark Balfours honoring Henry Ross who was eighty-five years old. They had also attended a "Steak Cook Out" at the home of Kenny Red din recently. On Sunday they drove to Shenandoah where they visited cousins of Mrs. Balfour, Mrs. Earl Fegerson, Fred Schnei der, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gauss and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fergerson.
