Steward Studio Photo Auxiliary to American Legion Has Picnic Dinner The American Legion Auxil iary to Hugh J. Kearns Post No. 56 held their regular monthly meeting July 25 at the home of Mrs. Karl Grosshans with a 6:30 pot-luck picnic dinner. President, Mrs. Russell Schalk presided. Guests at the dinner were Miss Patricia Melsinger the delgate to Girls State, her mother, Mrs. E. Melsinger, Mr3. Vivian Bayers of Jackson, Miss. Because It was the first meet ing otJhe year there were only three committee chairmen re ports. Memberships both Junior and Senior will be stressed this year in an effort to obtain the quota assigned by Department. Mrs. Schalk explained to the members the need for volun teers in assisting with the Red Cross Bloodmobile at the First United Presbyterian Church on August 8. Nurses, typists, and bottle labelers are needed. The Auxiliary has had an intensive telephone committee at work. The Chaplain closed the meet ing with prayer after which the delegate to Girls State told of her wonderful week at Lincoln. A dessert was served wit(j Mrs. Grosshans, Mrs. Alpha Muncie and Mrs. Ethel Zastera as hostesses. Next meeting will be held Aug. 22. Mrs. Hettie Larson will be chairman and hostess. Hill Top Aggies Plan for Fairs EAGLE (Special! The Hill Top Aggies 4-H Club met at the home of Jackie and Jeanette Ronhovde for one of their most important meetings of the ye?-r. All plans were made for the District Dairy Show at Seward, the County Fair and the State Fair. Taking dairy calves to these shows will be Paula and Joe French, Teddy Sabata, Jackie and Jeanette Ronhovde and Steve Sampson. The Seward Dairy Show is a large one and includes Butler. Cass, Fillmore, Lancaster, Polk, Seward, Thayer and York Coun ties. Winners are eligible for the Ak-Sar-Ben Dairy Show in Sep tember. Mrs. Dick Ayers and sons, Kevin, Dana and Douglas of Los Angeles, Calif., traveled the farthest distance to attend the reunion. Guest visitors were Clarence Johnson of Honolulu who came with his sister, Mrs. Reuben Meisinger of Murray, Mrs. Christine Johnson of Murray and Mrs. Charles Kell, Omaha. The 1964 Reunion will be held the last Sunday In July at River view Park Pavillion with the following officers making the plans: President, Jim Dwyer, Glenwood, Iowa; vice president, Harold Meisinger, Weeping Water; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Edgar Meisinger, platts mouth. A reception committee was named as follows: Mrs. Frank Bierl, Plattsmouth; Mrs. An drew Anderson, Omaha; Mrs. Victor Melsinger, Louisville; Mrs. Chester Kell, Omaha and Mrs. Karl Kraeger, Platts mouth. The remainder of the after noon was spent visiting, mem bers looking forward to the next reunion. Junior Auxiliary Met with Sponsor The Junior American Legion Auxiliary met at the home of their sponsor, Mrs. Carl Zim merman, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. Four members were present. Miss Karen Smith of Arnold, Neb., who has been visiting Miss Connie Richards was a guest. President Judith Ohnoutka presided using the procedure as outlined in the Hand Book. The sponsor explained to the group the number of projects that they can participate in as outlined by the department. A number of tours which could be taken was discussed. It was decided that for the present the meetings would be held on the second Monday , of each month. On August 12 new officers will be elected. The Chaplain closed the meet ing with prayer, after which re freshments were served. Journal Want Ads Pay New Officers Preside at VFW Auxiliary Meeting Plans for the fiscal year was the highlight of the meeting of the Auxiliary to the VFW held Tuesday night at the VFW Club. Newly installed officers were seated at their respective sta tions with president Mary Nel 3on as presiding officer. Anna Pearl Beins served as trustee pro-tern; Gladyj Kemp and Lil lian Dasher as color bearers pro tern. Post Commander Fred Draper was escorted In by the Con ductress, and In a brief cere mony presented the plague a warded at the department con vention for first place In the state community service awards. Mr. Draper and Norma Wilson served as commander and pre sident of the local Auxiliary the past year. Several projects for the com ing year were discussed with chairman of the activities to plan details, and present to Auxiliary for action. Membership chairman Sophia Woiever reported the drive for 1964 Is now In force, and re quests members to pay their dues at any time, with announcemnt that 15 a paid for '64. Amanda Davidson reported on Ways a.id Means and Marge Willis on Courtesy. Pearl Myers youth activities chairman announced a "cook out ' would be held soon for the Junior Auxiliary. Patricia Baburek. hospital chairman, reported on the es cort service at the VA Hospital, and the picnic scheduled for the patients with Auxiliary members assisting. Mary Nelson and Sophia Woi ever, who conducted a bingo for the cancer fund, reported a suc cess In the assignment, with several projects considered to fullfill the quota for cancer fund. VFW and Auxiliary District Meeting at Tecumseh Aug. 4 Veeterans of Foreign Wars and their Auxiliary will hold the district meeting Sunday, August , iccuiiDcii. The Ladies session will con vene at 2 p.m. with district pre sident Mrs. LeRoy Wilson pre siding. Veterans will hold their meet ing with district commander Lowell Iske of Papillion conduct ing the session. Cocktail hour! to follow the meetings, and din- ner to be served by the Auxiliary. Several members of the local! post and Auxiliary are district officers and with all members are urged to attend the meet ing at Tecumseh. 1944 Graduates Plan 1964 Reunion Plans for a reunion of the 1944 graduating class of Plattsmouth High School are In progress. Tentative date for the reunion is set for the third Saturday in June next year at Wlnterset Inn. - BIRTHS - Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Robert Martens, 2203 8o. 15th St., Plattsmouth, are parents of a 7 pound 9 ounce daughter, Kimberly Sue, born July 29 at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha. The couple has two other daughters, Rhonda and Tammy. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kaiser, Auburn; Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Martens, Norfolk. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Feldhousen were business visitors In Lincoln on Tuesday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Don Williams spent a few days in Denver with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gansemer and daughter Susan. Susan returned to Plattsmouth with Mr. and Mrs. Williams, her grandpar ents, for a brief visit. Milo Peterson entered the Methodist Hospital in Omaha this past weekend for observa tion and treatment. Guests the past several weeks at the home of Mrs. Sophia Woi ever, and returning to their homes were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mendina and Pat, Danvers, Mass.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jack son, Moline, 111.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Morris, and daughters Pat and Debbie of Youngstown, Ohio; Mrs. Ed Smith and Reeda, St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Potter and Todd. D., is here on a 30-day leave. He is being transferred to England. Lt. Col. and Mrs. Nick Klem and sons, Bob and Alan, of Wichita Falls visited here in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Woster and daughters. Mrs. Klem and Mrs. Woster are cous ins. Mrs. Klem is the former Helen Brooks, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. O. Brooks of this city. Mr. and Mrs. John Livingston and family of Bethesda, Md.. were here for two days visiting with Mrs. Lillian Livingston and Mrs. John Bajek, mother and grandmother of Mr. Livingston. They departed here for the Black Hills and Yellowstone where Mr. Livingston will return by plane to the east coast. Mrs. Livingston and children will con tinue on to the west coast for a vacation with friends in San Diego, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Morrison, Laurie and Torn of Watertown, Conn., who are here visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs. Virgil Perry left today for Iowa where they will visit Mr. and Mrs. Dale Morrison and family at their farm borne near Shen andoah. Saturday they expect to be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. ; Tom Maglll of near Lewis. Iowa, ! where a number of other Tarkio College Alumnae will be present for the day. James Pittman returned home Wednesday from Lf Roy, Illinois He attended funeral services for his mother, Mrs. David Pittman. Mrs. Fred Stewart, a sister-in-law of Mrs. Hallie Perry, is here visiting the Perrys and other friends and relatives here and in Omaha. She makes her home In California. She is a former resi dent of Plattsmouth. Mr. and Mrs. George D. Eber sole and Karen of Bartlesville, Okla., have returned home after being here to attend the Sullivan-Henry wedding and visiting at the homes of their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sullivan and Mr. and Mrs. George B. Eber sole. Miss Gail Sullivan returned home with them for a visit at the home of her sister and family In Bartlesville. Frank Krejci entered St. Jo soph Hospital, Omaha, Saturday evening for observation and care. He Is in Room 264. Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Taylor and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tay lor of Millard returned home re cently from a two weeks vaca tion to the east coast beginning with a trip to Ontario, Canada. Niagara Falls and Medway, Mass. where they were houseguesU of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Skeans, parents of Mrs. Robert Taylor; also sister, Mrs. Joanne Frallck of Canton, Mass. and grandmo ther of Medway. Side trips took them to Plymouth, Quincy and Cape Cod. Mrs. Fred Fischer returned home from an Omaha hospital where she spent a few days un dergoing observation and treat ment. Sprieck, after completing seven weeks as an ROTC instructor at Kort Sill, Okla., stopped here for a few days to Join his family who have been visiting at the home of Mrs. Virgil Perry during the en campment. Sgt. and Mrs. Spri eck and children, Jeffrey, Susan and Christine, departed for their home hi Denver where he Is an ROTC Instructor at North High School. Mrs. John E. Rice of Glen Ellyn, III, arrived Monday to spend a week at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Virgil Perry, where she Joined in a family reunion. Mrs. Rice will be remembreed as Eleanor Minor, who lived here until her family moved to Kankakee, 111. Grace Livingston Is making wonderful progress at the home of her sister, Mrs. Hugo Heyn, 6i4 Fairwood Lane, Omaha. Miss Livingston fell In July, breaking her leg, later under going an amputation at 81. Jo seph Hospital. Sparta Orchestra Members Attend Polka Festival Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Jaros and Terry, Mr. and Mrs. George Mlchka and Gary of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Meisinger and Ken of Plattsmouth attend ed the annual Polka Days at New Ulm, Minn. While there they had the pleasure of meeting George and Elsie Anderson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the National Polka dancing champions. Monday afternoon they were luncheon guests at the home of Fezz Frltsche and after the pa rade and evening street dancing attended a paVy at the home of Elmer Scheld In honor of the Sparta group. Ken and Terry are staying at New Ulm and vicinity with friends from Shenandoah, Iowa, one of these being Larry Bhike, the radio announcer from KFNF's polka Rhow.
