Pittsburgh Theological Seminary MVF PARTY NEHAWKA (Special) Mem bers of the Methodist Youth fellowship entertained at a bi cycle party and picnic Sunday evening. They met at the church and the winning team with the best attendance entertained tne losing team at the picnic at the Vance Balfour home. The party was held for the members of the senior class and for the Rev. Staley Hackley who is now affiliated with the Trinity Episcopal Church in Omaha as Youth Director. Hutchman took ah extended trip to the East, re turning home May 29. Mr. HutcB man has been celebrating his 50th year in the United Presby terian ministry. I While on his trip (he left May 6), he attended a 50-year class reunion at the Pittsburgh, Pa., Theological Seminary from which he was graduated In the class of 1913. He had reservations at the Theological Dormitory while ; there and visited friends and I relatives in the surrounding ar ea. Also, he spent some time I at Grove City, Pa., and visited the college where he was a student before enterting the Seminary. May 25 and 26 he visited at the home Of the Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Barr and family before ! starting his homeward trip. He reports the Barrs are well and very busy. Mr. Barr has a pas torate of an 1,100 membership ' congregation. When the community fare , well supper was held at the Mur- i ray united Presbyterian cnurcn May 3 for Rev. and Mrs. Barr , and family, Mr. Hutchman was I also honored for 50 years in the ! ministry. Mrs. Herb Melsinger baked and decorated a three-tiered ' cake which was presented (o Mr, Hutchman. On top of tne cake was the form of an open ; Bible with the Scripture, Mark ! 16: 20, Go Ye and Preach, in scribed on it. The cake was alsp i decorated with a green spray I and yellow rose at the base. Toastmistress was Mrs. Herman Trauernicht. Toast to Mothers was by Sandra Hansen and Toast to Daughters by Mrs. Wayne Howard. Sherry Lloyd and Mary Greer sang, accompanied by Mrs. Vernon Greer at the piano. Guest speaker was Jeanie Morrison of Lincoln. Awards were presented by Mrs. Walter Woitzel after which My Altar was given by Phillis O'Rourke and the Lord's Prayer was repeated In unison. ASHLAND Mrs. Ivan Armstrong Phone 944-8136 Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nelson were guests at a birthday dinner Saturday evening at the Dr. and Mrs. Joe Ligglt home in Lincoln, honoring Dr. Liggit. The Nelson's accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Har old Richards to Sioux City Sun day; also visiting the Ponca State park in Nebraska. Mrs. Clarence Peterson's sis ters, Mrs. Earl Haines and Mr. Haines and Mrs. Harriet Cook left for their home in California early Saturday. They had been Mrs. Peterson's house guests a few weeks. Mrs. Peterson accom panied them to Jamestown, Kans., for a few days visit with another sister, Mrs. J. A. Vering. Mrs. Peterson returned home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stock and Bruce also Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cole and family of Plattsmouth were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Stock at Murdock. - Mr. and Mrs. Harold Buell and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Miller at tended the Alumni banquet in the new Methodist Church in Waverly Saturday evening. Mrs. Buell and Mrs. Miller were two of a class of 32 who graduated from the Waverly school 25 years ago. Twenty of that group were present, some coming from quite a distance. After the banquet they gathered in the church par lors to review their school days. Rev. and Mrs. C. M. Foust called on Mr. and Mrs. Roy Keller Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Oscar Laughlin's 8unday callers were Mr. and Mrs. Watson Cole man of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs Donald Miller and sons of Plattsmouth and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Sowards. Oeorge Harris Jr. of Lincoln spent Saturday and Sunday with his cousin Wesley Laughlln. Mr and Mrs. George Harris and family had Sunday dinner and supper at the Arthur Laughlln home. Leadabrand attend ed the funeral of her uncle, Wal ter Schoenleber at Walton Satur day. The Green Glowers 4-H Club met May 15 at the home of Mrs. Ted Strattcn. The meeting was opened with a song, pledge to the flag and the 4-H pledge. Gail Willadsen demonstrated How To Bake Snickerdoodle. Refreshments were served by Gall Willadsen.
