The children spent the early part of the afternoon playing together and then later Pam opened the gifts she received. The children had birthday hats, balloons and Ice cream and cake for refreshments. Attending were Nancy Snod grass, Leann Sayers, Roger Rice, Timmy Spangler, Russell and Marvin Baxter, Carolyn, David and Ronnie March, Anna Lynn Sack, Sherrl Rogers, Scott Noeil, Lisa Humphrey, Mike and Joe Minford, Kelly and Roddy Beil and the birthday honoree, Pam Rogers. There were also nine mothers and Pam 's grandmother, Mrs. Lewis Rogers, present. Later in the afternoon, her other grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Frans came to wish Pam a "Happy Birthday." Mrs. Raymond Freeman presided at the meeting. She appointed committees for the July 4th cele bration and the Miss Weeping Water Contest. The Club has had 50 Spirea bushes planted around the Cass Coun:y Auditorium. Mrs. Elmer Michelsen installed the new officers at the close of the meeting. Miss Mary Louise Detmer talked about the Future Homemakers of America and modeled some of the beautiful clothes she had made. The May meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Darrell Mather. Brown's Hospital in Nebraska 1 City where he was hospitalized ; for two weeks. Mr. Carneal has a leg injury. i Mn. Mary Ann had competed in the Chalk Talk Event In the first Annual Mathematics Field pay afc- Creighton University ' in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Fees and family were In Aurora Sunday at the celebration 25'.h Jubilee of Priesthood of Father Ed Orze chowski. They were invited for the 11 o'clock Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church and the ban quet. The Fees family are former Parish members at St. Mary's. H. M. Johnson and R. T. Cuth rell attended a Board of Admini stration meeting of the Veterans of World War I at Hastings this past weekend. Mrs. Roy Sharp and Mary Ann, Diane Kennedy, Marie Gochenour, Mr. and Mrs. Rol land Buchholz and daughters his parents from Papillion, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Wilson and daughters attended Open House at Peru State Teachers College Sunday, April 28. Morton B. Willey of South Fork, Colo., spent the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wunderlich in Nehawka. Mr. Willey came to Nehawka with Bob Wunderlich who was in Colorado. Mrs. Bob Wunderlich and daughter Kathy of Nehawka were business visitors in Platts mouth Saturday. Martin Rutt Chapter A one o'clock dinner Sunday at the home of Mrs. Guy Wiles was for members of the Mar tin Rutt Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists. Mr3. Karl Whitaker, Regent of the chapter, conducted the meeting. She led in the Salute to the Flag. Mrs. Albert Dicarton, State Regent, gave a report ori the Indian School in South Dakota. Mrs. Ernest Morgan gave a review of the work in Wash ington, D. C. Martin Rutt Chap ter went on record as opposed to the UN. Assistant hostesses were Mrs. Dale Philpot and Mrs. H. L. Gamer. First Ward PTA First Ward PTA meeting was held April 23 at 8 p.m. in the kindergarten room. The meeting was called to ordr by the pres ident, Mrs. Richard Brendel. Mrs. Ruth Bobenraoyer read the minutes In the absence of the secretary. Treasurer's report was read by Le'.v a Winters. A motion to allow the bill to share expenses for two delegates to the Convention was made and carried. Room Count was won by Mrs. Kizer's fourth grade. Don Skalak was presented with past president pin. Dr. Tom Calvert addressed the meeting on "Poison Control Cen ter'' of Children's Memorial Hos pital and showed slides. Friendly Farm Ladies WEEPING WATER (Special) The Friendly Farm Ladies Ex tension Club held their April meeting In the Christian Church parlors with Mrs. Ralph Hyde and Mrs. Sterling Wiles as host esses. Mrs. George Domingo ac companied for the group singing. Fourteen members answered roll call. Two guests were present, Mrs. Henry Knaup and Mrs. W. P. Wright. Mrs. Alvin Groesser presided at the business meeting. Mrs. Groesser and Mrs. Fred Holt fcave the lesson on "Materials, their texture, wear and care". Refreshments were served at the close of the afternoon. The American Legion Auxiliary met on Tuesday evening In the American Legion Hail. Mrs. Richard Bickiord presided at the meeting. The members voted to make cash offerings to the cancer and crippled children funds. The Ca.ss County Convention will be held in Union on April 29th. The total membership is now 46 which is three over the quota. Mrs. MaU Am;ck, gave a report on Child WVUare in keeping with the Child Welfare month. Dial 2189 Farewell Honors Pastor, Wife MURRAY (Special) A com munity farewell covered dish supper was held at the United Presbyterian Church In honor of the Rev. and Mrs. Joe Barr and family. The Barrs will soon be leaving for a new pastorate at Butler, Pa. For some of the evening's en tertainment. Dr. Tyson showed pictures taken 20 years ago of people living In and around Mur ray. A monetary gift was present ed to the Barrs. as a farewell gesture. Helping Hands School Has 5 at Lincoln Workshop MURRAY (Special) The teachers, Mrs. Lloyd Loffer, Mrs. Robert Morton and Mrs. Jerry Paasch, and two mothers, Mrs. Abe Exline and Mrs. Cal vin Ouyer, of the Helping J!"xids School attended an all day Workshop at Lincoln last Tuesday. The children's cralt work was put on display. There were several speakers and one from Illinois who gave Information on rehabilitation of the mentally retarded. This was a statewide Work shop and an estimated 500 were In attendance. The Helping Hands School moved Its equipment to a dif ferent location which Is seven miles west and a mile soytbof Murray. j Friendly Fourteen LOUISVILLE (Special) The 'Friendly Fourteen Club met I Wednesday evening. April 24 at ; the home of Mrs. Velma Young quist with all but one member ; present. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Fern Johnson. After a short business ! meeting, in which there was no ne.w or old business, it was voted 'to adjourn. Bingo was played to celebrate the birthday of Tressa Gess. Fern Johnson won high ! prize In bingo. The remainder of the evening :was spent playing pinochle. High was won by Marge Herblc. sec ond high by Tre.ssa Gess, low to Dotsy Woehler and traveling to ! Beverly Sell. I The next meeting will be at the I home of Mrs. Tressa Gess on ! Tuesday. May 28 and the birth i day of Fern Johnson wiil be cele brated. Sunnyside Extension MURRAY (Special) The Sunnyside Extension Club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Delbert Todd with six members answering roll call. Drug A mi I ,HII District Spring WSCS Meeting A group from the Plattsmouth Methodist Church attended the District Spring Meeting of the Women's Society of Christian Service In Omaha April 24. The meeting was held at the St. Paul's Methodist Church. There was also a District Con ference for ministers and their wives at Dundee Presbyterian Church. The meeting opened at 9:30 a. m., preceded by a coffee hour. New District officers were elected and Installed. Clinics and a noon luncheon was serv ed In Fellowship Hall. An Interesting talk was given by Miss Joy Haupt of Lincoln who Is a short term mission ary and has Just returned from Pakistan. "Our Mission Today" was given bv Mrs. Lincoln Justice of Dakota City, who Is the Con ference Secretary of Mission ary Personnel. Attending Jrom the local church were the Rev. and Mrs. J. W. It was given by the Woman' Division of the Junior Chamber of Commerce In Lin coln. He weighed eight pounds and fif teen ounces and has been named Curtis Darren. Mrs. Gray was the former Ruth Persinger of Cedar Creek. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gray and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Perslnger of Cedar Creek. The Grays have three other children, two boys and one daughter. Mrs. Guy Persinger has been staying with her daughter and helping care for the little one.
