When searchers found the frozen bodies of Ruben Poppens, 50. and James Tackett, 39, the older man's dog was standing beside him. ' . ,'. 1 Both men were blind and ap parently became lost and froze to death. The dog. which had been with them when they set out in the cold weather, had to be coaxed away. Dr. Lis ton is now at home from the hospital. $87,375 Sales of E and H Bonds in County Last Month Walter 'H. Smith, savings bonds chairman for Cass Coun ty, reports that E and H bond sales amounted to $87,375 in the county last month. March pur chases, he said, brought the total for the first three months of the year to $331,375 repre senting 40.8 per cent of the "quota" for 1963. State-wide sales for the period amounted to $27,743,104, 67o above the first quarter of 1962 and represents 33.9 of the State's 1963 goal. Plans are being stepped up, according to W. B. Millard, Jr., State Chairman, on all fronts for participation of volunteers in the 1963 FREEDOM BOND DRIVE May 1 through July 4. Mr. Millard also announced that the NEW Nebraska School Thrift Committee, headed by Dr. Archer L. Burnham of Lincoln, will hold its annual meeting in Lincoln on May 9, at a luncheon meeting at The University of Ne braska Center of Continuing Ed ucation. Belle Bunch Funeral services were held April 22, at Umberger Chapel, Lincoln, for L. Belle Bunch, 73, of 1735 North 29th Street, Lin coln. Burial was In Lincoln Memorial Park. Lucy Belle Burrlll was born Feb. 1, 1890, to Thomas and Agnes Burrlll at Elmwood. She grew to young womanhood in that vicinity. Oct. 18, 1915, she was married to Fred C. Bunch at Columbus. Their married life was spent on farms at Canon City, Colorado, Burr, Cairo and Elmwood, Ne braska. In 1953, they retired from the farm and moved to their home in Lincoln where they lived until her death. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Nannen, Omaha, and Mrs. Norma Miller, Cairo; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Hall, Una dilla, and Mrs. Ellen Carroll, Seattle; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
