Alfrey of Louisville, has signed a contract as head coach in football and track and assist ant in basketball for the com ing year at Weeping Water High School. This past year he was assistant coach and science and history teacher at Weeping Wa ter School. Gene Noell, Jim Bierl, Roger Lanum and Dave Nettelmann ran 3:48.1 to finish second be hind Fremont's 3:46 in the third of five sections. Coach Cecil McKnight said Lanum ran the best leg of Plattsmouth' race. Omaha Tech won the event In 3:39 4. That placing was Plattn mouth's only one in the meet. Gary Christensen was in a 24 way tie for 5th In the high Jump at 5-4 but placlngs went to those who cleared the height on their fiist attempt. He was stationed at Lak ' enheath Air Base near Norwich. He Is staying at the home of : his mother, Mrs. William Molck I Sr. of Plattsmouth. Sgt. Molck was host here to Cpl. Colin Casllng of the Royal Air Force who he met during his stay in England. Cpl. Cas llng is presently stationed at Offutt as a member of a 19 man crew maintained in SAC to service the RAF planes which land there. Cpl. Casting was a supper guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Snell and family. ' Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Oroesser of Weeping Water hosted a din ; ner in honor of the two service ; men. Stitch and Stir 4-H Club Meets Our 4-H Stitch and Sth Club held it's fourth meeting at the home of Lona Derby. The meet ing was called to order by the president and opened with the roll call, and all repeated the flag salute and 4-H pledge. Our leader discussed foods for health. Joyce Puis gave a demonstra tion on Straightening material. Marlene Schafer Rave a demon stration on measuring and ba-ste-ing a hem. Lona Derby gave a demonstration on how to make sandwiches. A. Johnson Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p. in. at Sattler Fusselman - Perry Chapel wilh the Rev. Robert O. MeLecd of ficiating for Mrs. C. A. (Hanna Victoria i Johnson. 80, who died March 23 at St. Catherine's Hos pital, Omaha. Har.na Victoria was born Oct. 6, 1S82, at Smolands, Sweden, daughter of Jonas Alfred and Hilda Sophia Initstrom Larson. She was married Dee. 6, 1901, to Carl A. Johnson, I'lattsmouth. Her husband and 10 children survive. Her parents, two brothers, two sisters and an infant son preceded her in death. Surviving children are Mrs. Alyce Staats, San Gabriel, Cal if.; Theodore B. Johnson, Se dalia, Mo.; Elmer E. Johnson, San Bernardino, Calif.; Herbert W. Johnson, Tucson, Ariz ; Mrs. Hilda Thee, Sacramento. Calif.; Mrs. Vera Crandell, Platts -mouth; Alvin 11. Johnson, Pitts bun?, Calif.; Mrs. Elva Inman, Louisville; Mrs. Norma Miller, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mrs. Giorla McCarty, Redding, Cal.; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson came from Swe den to Platismoulh in 1901 and since made Plattsmouth her home. She was baptized and confirm ed in the Lutheran faith in her native land. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church here. Visiting hours were Monday afternoon ar.d evening. Pallbearers were Albert Fun kc, William Kraeger, Albert Olson, William Schmidtmann. Warren Rhylander and C. E. Markham. Flowerbearers were Mrs. Al pha Muncie and Mrs. Hilda Johanns. Music was furnished by Mrs. Donald Miller, soloist, and Mrs. George Jacobs, organist. Burial wa.s in Oak Hill Cemetery. Otto Puis Is Birthday Honoree MURRAY (8pecial) Otto Puis was the recipient of two celebrations for his birthday which was Tuesday, March 28. Sunday his daughter and fam ily, the Charles Martins, enter tained at a birthday dinner for Mr. Puis the following guests: Mrs. P. A. In the evening Mrs. Earl Puis was a caller. Mr. Puis has been hospital ized at St. Mary's Hospital for several months so he had to re turn to the hospital 8unday eve ning. Prase, 3fl, of Indiana, Pa., who died of a heart attack. He wis the hus band of the former Shirley Mar tin, former Plattsmouth resi dent. She survives alonij wilh four children. They had been making th 'ir home at 31 South Carpenter Ave., P. O. Box 12, Indiana. Pa. Mr. Pease was iq Princeton. 111., with the Don Martins looking for a house prior to their moving to Princeton. Mrs. Pease' parents, "Hub" and Fave Martin of VoosHt, Ohio, will be remembered here by many Plattsmouth people, as well as Mrs. Pease.
