The Plattsmouth Elementary Schools will observe American Education Week of Nov. 12-16, with a period set aside for par ent visitation. The visitation in Central. Col umbian, and First Ward schools will be on Wednesday, Nov. 14. Morning Kindergarten will be 10:30-11:30. Afternoon Kinder garten and First Grade will be 2:25-3:25, and Second through the Sixth Grades will be 2:30 3:30. Wlntersteen School will also hold its visitation on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. All parents are "cordially In vited to visit school during these times." Elementary Principal Paul Toms said. Herweg New Instructor at Mr. Jack Herweg has been hired to serve as instrumental music director of the Platts mouth City Schools. He is a native of Council "if"' 1 t - ! . t ' Jack Herweg Instrumental High School Bluffs, Iowa, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Parsons College, Fairfield, Iowa, and is presently working on an advanced degree at the University of Omaha. Mr. Herweg has four years previous teaching experience at WL.ner, where his band and vocal groins gained recognition for their excellent showings in local and regional perform ances. Mr. and Mrs. Herweg have a two year old sen. They plan to move from Omaha to Platts mouth in the near future. In response to the question of why he desired the Plattsmouth position, Herweg replied, "Pla'tsmouth Is noted for its fine band and I feel that wiih the continued Interest and sup port of the Community that an even better ln.strumen'al music program can be developed." Mrs. Henry Knaup opened the meet ing with a thought for the day, "Housewife's Prayer". The CVVF prayer was given in uni son. Mrs. Grace Freeman read 1 Corinthians for the Scripture reading. This was followed by sacred music played on a record player. The lesson topic was about "India". Four ladies from the Senior Group attended the World Outreach program at the Nor'hside Chris'ian Church in Omaha Oct. 31. They were Mrs. Eanos Plunkett. Mrs. Henry Knaup, Mrs. Victor Plunkett, Jr. and Mrs. Charles Freeman. Each one told some interesting things about "India". They heard a retired missionary, Mrs. Gamble, speak about her 33 years of missionary work in India. Others on the program were Miss Marilynn Hill.' Na tional Director of Adult work in the department of World Ou reach Education of the United Christian Missionary Society and other State Officers. Mrs. Knaup presented the les son, "What Needs are Served through the program of the Na tional Benevolence Associ ation". Roll call was an swered with Bible verses. A card was written to Mrs. Lena Renner, who has been in the hospital. A quilt has been com pleted and will be sent to the Child Saving Inslitu'e in Omaha. The next meeting will be De cember 6th at the home of Mrs. Victor Plunkett. This will be the Christmas luncheon. The Junior Circle of the Chris tian Women's Fellowship met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Maurice Hammons. Mrs. Harold Cummings, opened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. David Baxter led the worship service. Mrs. Cummings pre sented the lesson "Ministry to Special Needs through the Na tional Benevolence Association". The group sang "Count Your Blessings" accompanied by Mrs. Hammons at the piano. The members made posters for the Chicken pie supper Nov. 8. New trays have been purchased for the church by the General Circle of the CWF. Mr. and Mrs. Cummings re-decorated the old trays of the church. The Decem ber meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Ralph Hyde. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Henson of Louisville, were honored at a miscellaneous shower Sunday evening In the Christian Church parlors with 60 attending. This is a family shower that is held in the church for members newly married, or brldes-'o-be. Rev. Victor Schwarz, pastor of the church, led In group singing with Carol Nickels at the piano. A song was dedicated to the couple, "God Will Take Care of You". The fellowship singing was closed with "Blest Be The Tie". Marlln Rothe read a poem, "First Love". Shirley Up on was In charge Of games. Following the program Mr. and Mrs. Henson opened their gifts from a decorated table. A cooperative lunch of jello, cake, cocoa and coffee were served. The evening was closed with I prayer. The Friendly Neighbor Club met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. William Lee. (The afternoon was spent so jciflly. The Christmas mee'ing i will be held at Domingo Inn j Dec. 6. j The Sunny Hill Aid Society j met Thursday afternoon at the 'home of Mrs. John Norrls with nine members present, spend ing the afternoon tying a quilt. Obituary Daisy Lillv Partridge WEEPING WATER (Special) Funrrnl services were held Nov. 2, 1962 at the Hobson-Dorr j Funeral Home for Daisy Lilly : Partridge, 82, who died Oct. 28 i at her home in Canon City, Colo, j She was born February 12. 1880, the daughter of George Mark and Jane Wood Mark. Her husband William Part ridge died in 1961. Two children survive, Mark Partridge of Louisville and Mrs. Harry Stub bendick of Unadilla. Rev. Victor Schwarz officiated at the services. Mrs. Lynn Rothe and Mrs. Maurice Hammons sang "Rock of Ages", and "In the Garden" accompanied at the piano by Miss Carol Nickels. Pallbearers were Harley Rec tor, Harry Stubbendlck, Jr., Stnnley Miller. James Kivett William Partridge and Victor Teten. Burial was In St. John's Cem etery In Nehawka. Four Fined for Part in 'Brawl' Four youths pleaded "gullfy" to charges of "disturbing the peace" and were fined in Coun ty Court here Wednesday. Charges grew out of an Oct. 20 "brawl" on Main Street. Fired Wednesday were: Offutt Field Airmen Wayne Hamm, 19, $50 and costs; John Gartman. 21, $50 and costs, and Donald Willis, 20, $75 and costs; and Earl Curtis, 20, Plattsmouth, $50 and cost.
