W. Scott using Sallmans painting of the head of Christ and telling the story of the artist and how he came to paint the picture. This was followed by a short song service with Mrs. John Schreiner at the piano. The business was presided over by the president Mrs. How ard Wiles who opened the meet ing with an appropriate poem. Final plana were made for the roast beef dinner and bazaar to be held on Nov. 8. Plans were also made to go as guests to the Bellevue Society on Nov. 1 at which time an ad dress will be given by Rev. Crume of the Omaha City Mis sion. After the business meeting Mrs. Schreiner played two piano numbers. It was announced that Mrs. Zella Traudt is now at Crowell Home at Blair and would appre ciate cards from her friend:. The Dorcas Circle served re freshments. Happy Hour Club LOUISVILLE (Special) The Happy Hour Club met at the home of Mrs. Hazel Dolan. Mrs. Dolan played several piano se lections that she had composed and written herself. Mrs. Buelab Isaac sang several vocal selec tions. Mrs. Dorothy Nessen, presi dent of the club, conducted the business meetirg. The sixleen members and their guests, Mrs. Rodney Wilmoth, and Mrs. W. 8. McGrew, Sr., of Louisville and Mrs. Mary Farris of Om aha, answered roll call by tell ing the name of their favorite song. Co-hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Gen Williams and Mrs. Lettie Stohlmann. First Ward PTA First Ward PTA meeting was held in the kindergarten room at 8 p.m. Room count was taken with Mrs: 8edlak's third grade winning In the count. ; It was reported that the can vassing on the Retarded Chil dren of Cass County was a suc cess. Announcement was made of the District Convention to be held at Falls City, Oct. 30. Bill Hawkins, represented First Ward on the school pro gram xA .the. Sehool- Advisory Committee on ihe school build ing. Mrs. Solomon, program chair man, introduced Mrs. Morton, Director of the Retarded Chil dren Assoc. of Cass County, who gave an interesting talk. Announcement was made that the speaker for next monih will be James Begley, county at torney. A discussion was held con cerning Civil Defense and the necessity or means to evacuate the school in case of an emer gency. Mrs. Bacon was ap pointed chairman of the com mittee to Investigate. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Olen Eaton, Mrs. Merle Meisinger, Mrs. Jane Johnston, Mrs. Elmer Haffke, and Mrs. Neil Redden, Er. M Mr. and Mrs. Carolyn Thorns - Married In Church Ceremony Yellow mums and bronz pom poms amid flickering candle light adorned the Immanuel Lu theran Church, Louisville, Tues day, Oct. 23 for the evening wedding of Carolyn Thorns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mel vin Thorns of Weeping Water, and Gary Wiles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth C. Wiles of Weep ing Water. Rev. T. J. Vogel of Louisville officiated. The candlelights, Duane and Jimmy Thorns of Weeping Wa ter, brothers of the bride, be gan the impressive ceremony. Misa Suwan Wood of Lincoln was organist, Clyde Wiles of Lincoln, brother of the bride groom sang the "Lord's Prayer" and "My wedding Prayer. The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a chantilly type lace floor length gewn In traditional white. A scalloped cameo neckline traced in opale scent pal'.lettes and seed pearls contoured the taut, long sleeved bodice. A fully gathered skirt was circled with a continuous diamond shaped tulle Insertion centered with small lace medal lion applique. She carried a bouquet of yellow mums and broiz pom-poms. Janice Domingo, ; Weeping Water, wore a light! green taffeta street length gown. and carried a yellow and bronz, fall bouquet and bridesmatron, , Mrs. Linda Lewis of Plattsmouth. ! cousin of the bride wore a cocoa taffeta street length gown and carried a yellow and bronz fall bouquet. Flower girls were Mary Jo Rathe, Weeping Water, and Mary Domico, Lincoln, niece ofi the bridegroom. They wore' identical frocks of yellow taff-i eta. Joe Ward of Weeping Water was best man. Miss Linda Lane was in charge of the guest book. Approximately 375 people at tended the wedding. A reception was held In the church parlors following the 7:30 p.m. wedding ceremony. The wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. Pauline Domico of Lincoln, sister of the bride groom. Miss Linda Rehmeier of Weeping Water poured coffee and Miss Janice Holt of Weep ing Water served the punch. Miss Donna Lange of Lincoln, cousin of the bride, served the ice cream. Servers were Lois Livingston, Barbara Lee and Lana Wendt. In charge of the gift table were the Misses Sharon Oan semer. Lorlne Pointer, Alice Lauritzen and Janice Kassube. After a short trip to Colorado, the couple will make their home In the Joe Bender apartment at Weeping Water. Clendale Club LOUISVILLE (Speclal)-The Giz-ndale Club met at the Odd Fellows Hall. Lena Vervaecke as hostess and Mollie Wegener as co-hostess. The club president, Ruth Al bert, called the meeting to order. Sixteen members an swered roll call by naming their "favorite childhood song their Mother sane". Mrs. Jean Gronn led in singing, "The Paw Paw Patch." Mrs. Charles Freeman, vlte president, opened with a poem, "The House By the Side of th Road." Roll call was answered by "some experience from life." Mrs. Cyrus Livingston gave the devotions on "Orandma, Mama and Me" Mrs. Eanos Plunkett gave the lesson on the same topic, with the group reading of scriptures. She gave an article on citizens reaching the golden years. Mrs. Victor Schwara gave the Bible Study. The members are to read the 2nd chapter of Timothy. Mrs. William Klemme gave the treasurer's report and Mrs. Vic tor Plunkett, Jr. the secretary's report. A thank you card was read from Mrs. Leonard Burbee for a plant from the members. Mrs. Leon Bond and Mrs. Free man gave the group leporU. Mrs. Hyde read a letter from the Cass County Retarded Children's School and the group voted a donation of $10.
