Todd am The Woman's Society of Christian Service met at the Parsonage with Rev. and Mrs. Herder Thursday afternoon with 10 members and Mrs. O.icar Smith of Stratton, Colo., and Rev. Herder as guests in attend ance. Mrs. Orunwald opened the meeting with a Poem entitled "Pennies for Missions". Mrs. Cross led the prayer ser vice and the devotions. Mrs. Lewis Mougey reviewed the last half of the Study Book on Latin America (The Land of Eldorado) in the absence of the leader, Mrs. Richard Mougey. The hostesses, Mrs. Crass and Iva Mougey, served refresh ments. Lois Marie Disney of Omaha, and former High School teacher in the Union Schools, is an nouncing her plans for her mar riage to John Edward Vainter sometime in the winter. Mr. - and Mrs. Oscar Smith of Stratton, Colorado visited sev eral days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cross and other relatives at Union. They had been visiting their son and fam ily In Alexendrla, Va., and were on their way home. Tom Easter sang a solo at the morning Church Service. The Junior Choir also sang for the service at the Methodist Church. In the afternoon, Dr. Everett Jackman, District Supt. of Om aha, held the first Quarterly Conference for the new church year. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jenkins of Belgrade were weekend guests of Revi' and Mrs. Arthur Herder. Mr. Jenkins is the County Supt. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith and son Lynn were weekend guests ;of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cross. They were on their way to Morgonstown, West Virginia, where Mr. Smith will attend the State University this coming year. He received a fellowship in Science to. this University. Sunday dinner and supper guests jof Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Paasclftnd daughter Ellen were Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Lien and famllyOT CTiCna, Mrs. Clara Lien 6t Barnesville, Minnesota and Mr.; and Mrs. Gerhardt Lenz of Grelha. In the afternoon Lhe Paascle's and guests visited Ar bor Lodge in Nebraska City. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Ackley, Karen Urid Wayne, Mrs. Wayne Ackley and Mrs. Lillian Johnson of Mead left Union on Thursday morning and drove to Estej Park, Boulder and other inter esting f'. places of interest for several .days. They returned last Monday-afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. John McQuin and family of Bellevue and Mrs. -L B. Mougey drove to Hamb&rg, Iowa last Sunday where they were guests of Mrs. Carl IfcSpadden. Mr.atid Mrs. Lloyd Zorn of Omaha-.were Sunday afternoon and evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zorn. Kimberly and KarenpReed of Grand Island were guests of the Earl Zorns several days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Roddy, Mr. and Wtfa. Ivan Balfour, Mr. and Mrs. Merl Ried, Mrs. Deborah MullisEd Morries and Mrs. Earl Zotn attend the War Dad's State Convention at Fremont last Siturday.
