A good number of Elmwood people attended the Cass County Fair this past week. The attrac tive pictures of different farms were interesting, the two getting the most votes were the Harold and Lloyd Thomasen farms west of Weeping Water and they are now supposed to be entered at the state fair. At the invitation of Mr. and Mrs. Albert' Seiker, 86 of Mrs. Seiker's relatives picnicked at the Elmwood Park cn Sunday, Aug. 26. Mr. and Mrs. Seiker's guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Seiker, Mrs. Aaron Rauth, Mrs. Andrew Stander and Mrs. John Stander. This includes the fam ilies of the above people. Word has come of the death of Mrs. John Wood of Santa Monica, Cal., which took place on August 25th, 1962. Mrs. Wood was a native of Alvo and later lived in Elmwood. She went to California to join her daughter, Ruby McMasters and her son Virgil Wood who both reside in Santa Monica. Mrs. Wood was a sister of Mrs. Watson Jones and sister-in-law of Grace Wood. Fred Creamer of Waverly and the Wendell Bratt family of Lincoln were visitors of Maud and Jessie Creamer Sunday aft ernoon. Also Mrs. Mary Churchill and son Steven with Ralph and Jessie Creamer were callers in the evening. Mrs. Gordon Brooks who is temporarily of K. C. spent a few days visiting her sister Belle Coakley and brother Herb Hul fish. Guests of Mrs. Bert Reber for the past several days were granddaughter, Beverly Searls and son of Newport News, Va., and grandson Bert Reber, wife and baby of St. Louis, Mo. They left for home Monday, Aug. 27. Jackie Koutsky left Friday for Estes Park, Colo., where she is a representative from Nebraska to the Evangelical United Breth ren National YF convention. There will be 1,553 delegates from the different states in the United States. The Rev. and Mrs. Ron Irons of Laddonia, Mo., visited all week at his parents home, the Chester Irons. Guests of Mrs. Lewis Koutsky Wednesday morning for coffee were Mrs. Wilda Mattox, Mrs. Loraine Dotson, Mrs. Erma Johnson and Mrs. Ava Malone of Lincoln. Rev. Schroeder's sister and brother-in-law of Clay Center, spent Sunday visiting with them. Mr. Ellis Miler is still in the hospital but is getting along as well as can be expected. Their daughter, Mrs. Ralph Borne meier of Denver, is staying with her mother. Mrs. Lillie Box entered the hospital again on Monday morn ing -for-treatment 'and observa tion. ' CHREINER rexall DRUGS John Hall entered the hospital for an appendectomy last week. Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Steiner and family attended the Bausch reunion at Burchard, Sunday. They stopped at Albert Weible's enroute home. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Siller and children Lynn and Grant left on Friday morning fcr their home at Fort Collins, Colo. Mrs. Sitler and the children spent the ten days visting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Greene and the Alvin Rueter family. , ; Mr. Sitler, who is on the staff of the Farm Economics Division cf the Economic Research Serv ice, USDA, stationed at Fort Col lins, attended meetings at Wash ington, D. C, and the American Farm Economics Assn. meeting at the University of Connecticut, at Storrs, Conn. Alvin Reuter, son Thad and Mr. Eldon Panska left Tuesday night for Minnesota. The men returned on Thursday evening. Thad remained for a weeks va cationing and fishing with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rueter, who have spent the past two weeks In Minnesota. Weeping Water School To Start Next Tuesday WEEPING WATER (Special) The Weeping Water School will begin Tuesday, Sept. 4. Mrs. John Krogh will be in charge of the hot lunch program with the lunches costing 30 cents each day. They were raised five cents a day from last year. The lunch program will begin Wed nesday. The extra-curricular activities will be Boys' and Girls' Athle tics, Vocal and Instrumental music, dramatics, Library, Stu dent Council, "W" Club, Pep Club, Annual Staff, FHA, Active Class Organizations.
