Newly installed officers for the fiscal year conducted the session with Mary Nelson, Cha peau, presiding. Roll call was answered with 16 members in attendance. Pledge of allegiance to the flag repeated in unison, and prayer given by L'aumonier Margurite Feld housen. Discussions were held, con cerning scrap book, history book and the secretary's record book, with action to be taken. Frank Paynes Mark 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Frank Payne will celabrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary July 30. Mr. and Mrs. Payne moved to Plattsmouth from Shenandoah, Iowa, in 1918 and he was em ployed with the Burlington Rail road and later with the Island Nebraska Light and Power Co., now known as Consumers Public Power, until his retirement. Mrs. John Brown Honored at Coffee The country home of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Cook was the scene of an open house on Tues day when Mrs. Cook honored her daughter Mary (Mrs. John Brown) of Encinitas, Calif., at a morning coffee. Friends called between the hours of 9:30 and 11:30 to meet and greet Mrs. Brown who has been a house guest of her par ents for the past few days. Garden flowers were used throughout the home to lend a festive air to the occasion. Guests were invited to be served delicacies prepared by the host ess. The lace covered table was centered with a unique arrange ment of Red Cannas and Bells of Ireland in a crystal bowl. Mrs. Karl W. Grosshans poured cof fee. Following the social hour, the ladies toured the yard and flow er gardens of the Cook home. Mrs. Brown returned to Cali fornia Wednesday. 25 AT STORY HOUR WEEPING WATER (Special) There are 25 boys and girls registered for the Story Jjojjr at the City Library; 85 books were checked out by the children. Prizes will be given at the end of the story hour for books read. Reading for the story hour are Mrs. Sigvald Jensen, Mrs. Jack Ratllff, Debra Roberts, and Mrs. Wayne Rupp. The audit report was present ed bv Vera Warga and Emma Cappell. The following committees were appointed by the Chapeau. Rituals and Emblems, Abbie Wiseman and Mata Amick; Scrap book, Ethel Strabel; Courtesy, Ethel Zastera; Trans portation, Minnie Schiber, and Elsie Schutz; Invitation, Emily Gcnzales, Emma Cappell and Violet Attebery. Child Welfare, Vera Warga and Bea Brothers; Partnership, Mary Gobelman, Helen Vroman and Susie Cook; year books, Betty Ault; Constitution and By Laws, Alpha Muncie and Nettie Ruse, Publicity, Sophia Wol ever; Auditing, Nettle Ruse and Ethel Zastera. Delegates to the Pouvolr Meeting at Lincoln Aug. 12 are Mary Nelson, Sophia Wolever, Elsie Schutz and Ethel Strabel. Alternates are Elva Inman, Vic let Attebery, Margurite Streeter and Vera Warga. The group voted to send $7.50 to the National Jewish Hospital at Denver to purchase the vege table supply for one day. Names of hostesses for the year were announced, and the month serving. A get well card was signed by the partners present, and sent to Helen Vroman who is ill. Meeting adjourned, and games were played, with prizes award ed to Mary Nelson, Vera Warga, Emma Cappell, Ethel Zastera, Mollie Gobelman, Alpha Muncie, Elsie Schutz, Sophia Wolever, Ethel Strabel, Myrtle Grosshans, Emily Gonzales, Susie Cook, Margurite Feldhousen and Min nie Schiber. Hostesses Mary Gobelman and Violet Attebery served cake, pineapple sherbet, nuts, coffee and iced tea. The next meeting will be at the home of Helen Gayer In Pa-pillion. Bridal Shower AVOCA (Special) Barbara Zichek, Lincoln bride elect of Richard Maseman was honored at a miscelleaneous shower Sat urday at the Congregational church parlors! Hostesses were Mrs. Walter Halm, Mrs. Myron Shroder, Mrs. Robert Nutter. Mrs. Carl Zaiser. Helping unwrap her gifts were Mrs. Stuart Maseman, assisting were Janet Nutter, Cheryl Halm and Margen Nutzroan. The' hoaofee found her gifts under a pink umbrella. Nutcups, napkins and other things on the lunch tray carried out her colors of pink and blue. There were 55 guests from Ne hawka, Union, Weeping Water, Syracuse and Lincoln. Women's Fellowship Has Installation WEEPING WATER (Special) The Congregational Women's Fellowship met on Wednesday afternoon In the church parlors. Mrs. Harold Domingo presided at the meeting. Margaret Ran ney presented the devotions. Mrs. Domingo thanked each chairman of the fellowship for her help the past 22 years: Each chairman gave a yearly report. Mrs. Harold Elliott installed the new officers: Mrs. Vernon Day, first vice president; Mrs. Fred Cherry, second vice presi dent; Mrs. Stanley Wood, secre tary; Mrs. Edith Wilkinson, treasurer and Ruth Hart, new reporter. Alvln McReynolds showed pic tures of Mexico and South America at the meeting. L. Wiles, accompanied by Mrs. Alan Wiles and small son, returned from a two-weeks vacation to Cincinnati, Ohio, where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Trilety and fam ily. The large conservatory in Eden Park was "especially beautiful, with a large area de voted to tropical plants from many countries, and there are seasonal displays throughout the year that are beautiful." They took a tour into Kentucky where they visited the stables of famous racehorses at Lexing ton. They returned by Burlington via Chicago. Anniversary and Birthdays Feted WEEPING WATER (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup of Weeping Water were guests, July 22 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Knaup of near Rulo. The following were also guests at the Reuben Knaup home. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Herr and family of Humboldt, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Root and family of Eagle. The family gathering was to celebrate the July birthdays in the family, and also the wedding anniver sary of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup, which was that day. Sophia Kraeger Feted on Birthday Friends sumrised Sophia Kraeger with a birthday party Mondav atternoon at ner nome. Attending were Mrs. Lena Hild. Mrs. Lulu Enselkemeier, Mrs. Lizzie Stoehr, Mrs. Anna Oansemer, Mrs. Fannie men, Mrs. Rene Lutz and Marie Lutz. The afternoon was spent play ing cards with Mrs. Hild getting high score. Refreshments of Ice cream, cake and coffee were served. On 'Summer Nebraskan' The largest number of Jour nalism interns in the six-year history of the University of Ne braska program are testing c 1 a s s r o o m-acquired skills against the demands of profes sional journalism this summer. Twenty - four students are launching their senior year with full-time journalism jobs.
