A ' Mr. and Mrs. Couple Celebrates Silver Wedding WEEPING WATER (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Wood of Weeping Water celebrated their silver wedding anniversary June 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Con gregational Church parlors. Their two daughters, Mi.ss Susan and Mary Alice Wood were the hostesses. The recoption was opened with a prayer by the pastor of the church, Pastor I. C. G. Camp bell. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Curt right of Clearwater, a sister and brother-in-law, were in the re ception line with Mr. and Mrs, Wood. They were the attendants at the couple's wedding. The serving table was cover ed with a lace cloth over pink with a centerpiece of pink roses, fern and baby breath in a silver bowl arranged by Mrs. Ray Nor ris, with white candles in silver candlesticks on either side. In dividual white cakes with pink bells and ribbon on silver frost ing, coffee and punch were serv ed. Mrs. Floyd Hite of Ashland V Mrs. Dewey Brittell of Cham bers and Groce Wood of Elm wood were in charge of the guest book. The gift table was cover ed with lace over silver and wa.1 centered with a money tree, a gift of the family. Mrs. Clarence Norris and Mrs. Louis Noble of Weeping Water took care of the gift table. Lela Luben of Clearwater and - Mrs. Ray Sanks of North Platte served the cake; Mrs. I. C. G. Campbell, Mrs. Homer Jameson and Mrs. Howard Luben ol Clearwater served punch. The coffee was served by Mrs. James Kivett, Mrs. Murray Mutter ol Wymore and Mrs. Lillian Cun ningham of Lincoln. Those, who assisted in the din ing room were Loreli Smith ol Lincoln, Mrs. William Jameson, Marlene Noble. Mrs. Raymond Horn, Beverly Philpot and Mrs. Herman Funke of Topeka, Kan ssa. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. Alma Berner, Mrs. Harry Critser. Mrs. Wm. New ham, Mrs. George Domingo. Mrs. Laurence Eidenmiller and Mrs. John Krogh A program was presented dur ing the afternoon. Mary Alice Wood sang a solo, "Faith Un Reunion Honors Denver Visitors A Gansemer family reunion at Sieinhart Park, Nebraska City on July 4th honored Mrs. Robert Krejci and children of Denver. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Gansemer, John Speck and children, Joe Haswell and children, Mrs. Lena Hild Mrs. Anna Gansemer, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Hild and children Randy Gray of Arizona and Mrs. Helen McKinney and Ronnie. Woman's Fellowship AVOCA (Special i The Wo man'i Fellowship met at the Congregational Church Thurs day. The missionary committee were hosts'. Mrs. Rawalt opened with the devotional period. After a short business meeting the committee took over with the annual birth day party, P.ace mats were of wall paper patterns. Candy and a cup cake with a pink candle were at each place. Favors were small china vases. Each guest read a famous quotation and told tlreir best birthday they could recall Mrs. Pearl Vette was a guest. FREE DANCE! VFW Club. - Saturday, July 7 - 8:30 P.M. Mrs. Herman Fun ke sang, "I Love You Truly" ac companied by Mrs. S. H. Har mon. Mr. and Mrs. Harmon sang a duet, "Shubert's Serenade' and "Why Do I Love You?" ac companied by Sandra Jameson. Piano music was played during the reception by Miss Jameson and Dian Rector. Out-of-town guests were pre sent from Clearwater, Omaha North Platte, Chambers, Elm wood, Ashland, Wymore, Gret na, Lincoln, Nebraska City, Falls City, Bellevue, Murdock, Alvc Nehawka, Topeka, Kansas, Ben nett and Waverly. 32 Family Members Gather For Reunion Thirty-two descedants of John Henry and Martha Mathls Wiles held the seventh annual re union at Steinhart Park in Ne braska City June 24. Three new marriages were recorded during the year; those of Beverly Beckman to Charles Johnson; Elaine Hilfiker to David Hagen and John Beckman to Roberta Morris. Two births were added also; James Foster Edwards, son of Sgt. and Mrs. Herb Edwards of Council Bluffs; and Nancy Sue Nelson; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gailard Neison of Harlan, Iowa. The oldest member present was Harry Wiles of Union and Jimmy Edwards' of Council Bluffs, Iowa was the youngest member present. A collection was made to send the Plattsmouth Journal to Mal colm Wiles who is a paiient in a Lincoln hospital. The officers for the coming year are president Lawrence Jones ; vice president, Herb Ed wards, and secretary, Leone Til son. Next year the reunion will be held at Mandan Park in Om aha. Family Reunion At Garfield Park A picnic, Sunday, July 1, was a reunion of the Dietl-Ulrich and Bierl families at Garfield Park. The reunion, an annual affair, was a basket dinner at noon, and visiting. Present were Mr. and Mrs John Dietl and family, Nehawka: Mr. and Mrs. James Dietl and family of Manley; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Adsit of Plattsmouth; Mrs. Clyde Sheard and family, Coun cil Bluffs, la.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dietl, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ulrich. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Toman. Plattsmouth and Mr. and Mrs C. L. Shields, Omaha. Mrs. Don Warga Presides At Meeting The June 28 meeting of the auxiliary to Illigh J. Kearns Post No. 56 was held in the 40 and 8 Clubrooms. The meeting was called to order by President Vera Warga. A prayer was given by the Chaplain. The peamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary was repeated by the members, followed by Salute and Piedg-e To The Flag. Americanism Chairman urged everyone to display the flag on the Fourth of July. Reports covering the years' activities were heard from the Courtesy Committee, Rehabili tation Committee, Publicity Committee, Hospital Committee and Americanism. Historian Lucille Gaines re ports her history ready to go oui this weekend. T President thanked all who helped at the cemetery on Mem orial Day. The workers ran ou, of crosies so more will be order ed for next years' observance. Elsie Schutz read the report of The Nominating Committee. Attention was called again to the State Convention io be held in Lincom August 10-12. Head quarters will be at the Lincoln Hotel. An invitation has been ex tended to the Auxiliary by The King Korn Karnival Committee to take charge of the reception for the candidates for Queen. It was agreed to accept this invit ation. Mrs. Luella Zimmerman was a guest. She requested that her membership be transferred from the South Omaha unit to the local auxiliary. The annual picnic will be in July. The following new officers were elected: president, Virginia Schalk; 1st vice-president, Mary N:hon; 2nd vice-president, Sophie Wolever; secretary, Helen Woolcott; treasurer, Betty Ault; chaplain, Helen Vro.man; historian, Anne Drennen; Sgt. at arms, Ruth Krings; color bearer, Elsie Schutz; executive committee, Lucille Gaines, Vera Warga, and Verna Perry. Sophia Wolever installed the new officers. A gifi was presented to the past president, who in turn handed her gavel to the new president. She presented gifts to her officers and chairman. Jacqueline, Debera and Bar bara Sue Barkhurst and their step-sister and brother, Barbara Darlene and Steven are visiting with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Barkhurst. The Rev. Raphael O'Malley read the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with pink and white roses. Gary Bur kart, organist, cousin of the bride, accompanied Paul Chmid ling, who sang, "Ave Marie Panis Angelicus" and O Lord I Am Not Worthy." The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length white gown of chantilly lace and tulle. The bodice was fashioned with long tapered sleeves and a scalloped neckline. The ful. lace skirt, styled with a back ap ron effect was filled In with tiered ruffles of tulle. Her fin gertip veil of illusion fell from a tier of seed pearls, centered with a crystal tear drop. She carried a bouquet of blue carna tions, centered with a white or chid and white satin streamers. Pauline Lucius of Plattsmouth was maid of honor for her sis ter. She wore a dress of blue silk with satin piping, three quar ter length sleeves and a dome shaped skirt with satin bows Her flowers were a bouquet of pink carnations. Sandra McNeil of Ottawa. Kans. was flower girl. Tom Knoebber of Oxnard, Calif, was the ringbearer. William Feck of Topeka, Kan sas was the best man. A-2C James Dokter and Eldon Dokter, brothers of the bridegroom were ushers. Mrs. Paul Lucius, mother ol the bride, was dressed in a blue and white flowered nylon dress with white and blue accessories. The bridegroom's mother chose for the wedding a two piece blue and white flowered silk sheath with beige accessories. Both wore a white carnation corsage. A reception was held at the Effingham Grade school dining hall immediately following the ceremony. The serving table was centered wiht a four tiered white cake, trimmed with blue flowers and silver bells. Sunnyside Club Has Picnic The Sunnyside Extension Club held their annual picnic at the Murray Park June 28. There were eight members,' eleven cnnciren and one guest present. Meeting was conducted by the Secretary, Mrs. Leona Sayers. It was announced that Mrs. Havley Sayers, president, will call a short meeting soon to plan further on the window display. Games were conducted by the hostesses, Mrs. Havley Sayers and Mrs. John Collins. Next meeting will be held Sept. 27 at the home of Mrs Shirley Nickles with election of officers. RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIPS AVOCA (Special) Roger Ehlers, 1962 high school grad uate, has received two scholar ships from Wesleyan University, Lincoln one for achievement, the other from the alumni. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ehlers and will attend the university in the fall. Mrs. Dokter is a graduate ol the ACC high school in Effing ham and Droughhon's Business College, in Kansas City. Mr Dokter is a graduate of the Weeping Water High School and has served four years in the Air Force, stationed at Topeka, Kan sas the past 32 years. The bride chose a beige sheath dress with beige accessories and wore a red carnation corsage for their wedding trip to Wichita. After June 17, the couple will be at home at 409 Huntoon in Topeka, where they are em ployed. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dokter, James, Eldon and Keri Sue of Weeping Water and Mr. anc Mrs. Leonard Hermann of Man ley attended the wedding from this vicinity. Going-A way Party At Scharnow Home Mrs. Sharon Cundall had a surprise going-away party for Brad and Kirk Cundall. Thirty three guests' attended the bar becue party. Games were played and prizes and balloons were given. The party was held at the Floyd Scharnow home with the assistance of the Mises Willow Shoemaker and Irene Chin, both of Omaha. Mrs. Cundall and sons are now settled in Omaha where she is" employed for AAA and is a Travel Counselor. Those attending the party were Mrs. Robert Shrynemaker and Renee; Mrs. Carl Moehead, Tommy and Jerry; Mrs. Melvin Wilson, Diane and Lori; Mrs. Ted Crabbe, Darlene and Patti; Mrs. Raymond Church, Randy and Terry. Also Mrs'. Harold Gobleman, Renee and Holly Horn; Mrs. John Porter, Terry, Tod and Tye; Mrs-. Wm. Allgeier and Jenny ; . Kenny and Kathy Baumgart; Cheryl Wilson, Loretta Scharnow, Mrs. Cundall and sons. The party ended with the hon orees opening their gifts and all singing. Ice cream cones were enjoyed. A 12:3C covered dish dinner was served to the members, their families and guests, with 58 present. The afternoon was spent visit ing, playing badminton and err quet. The younger children play ed games under the supervision of Mrs. Ernest Bond. A short business meeting was held afterwhich ice cream anc cake were served. Next meeting will be a special meeting at the home of Mrs Ralph Parkening Aug. 7. Marilyn Tindall Is 'Miss California' Marilyn Tindall, Miss Holly wood, now Miss California, will compete in the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant at Miami Beach Fla., July 6 to 16. The 21 year old green-eyed blond is the dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Tindall of Hollywood, and grand daughter of D. S. Sumner and the late Mrs. Sumner, former Plattsmouth residents. Marilyn'? mother is the former Evelyr Sumner. ' The Sumner family resided in Elmwood prior to their resi dence in Plattsmouth where Mr Sumner was the Missouri Paci fic Depot agent. Miss Tindall is a secretary in City Department of Water and Power. She won the Miss Calif ornia title in June and was awarded a long list of prizes, in cluding a swimming pool, fox fur, complete wardrobe, $10C cash and the all-expense-paid 10 day trip to Miami Beach. She hopes to be a fashior model and do television conv mercials. She weighs 128 lbs., stands 5 ft. 7 In. tall and measures, 37-22-37. Cass Go-Getters The Cass Go-Getters met June 2y at the home of Patty Jacob son. Meeting was called to order by President Linda Engelke mier. The following demonstrations were given. Church Meeting At Green Home June meeting of the Women's Department of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was held at the horn ; of Mrs. Wayne Green. Mrs. Alan Kreglo gave the devotions followed by the lesson by Mrs. Herman Steeby. The lesson concerned family rela tionships in the area of com munication one with another. The climax of their varation came last Friday when Com mander Whl-.e, in a colorful mil itary ceremony, assumed com mand of USS I) AM A TO. an Atlantic Fleet destroyer. DAMATO, home ported in Nor folk and carrying a crew of 15 officers and 250 men, operates as a unit of Task Force Bravo, the anti-submarine .specialists of the U.S. Navy. Colbert-Schwenneker Wedding July 2 Norma Colbert and Charlct Sehwenneker were married Monday niuht at the First Me thodist Church here. Rev. Wil lard Scott, pastor of the church, officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Colbert and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sehwenneker both of Plattsmouth. Only the immediate families and a few close friends attended. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Helms were the couple's attendants. A reception at tin home of the bridegroom's parents followed the wedding ceremony.
