NEHAWKA (Special) About 300 of the liveliest 4-H'ers in Ne braska assembled at the Kellogg Center in Lincoln June 12 foi the 46th annual Nebraska 4-H Club Week. From then until Saturday morning, when the last sleepy eyed 4-H'er shuffled out the door with his luggage under his arm, there was never a dull mo ment. After registration everyone headed for their rooms to see how many beds could be short sheeted before others arrived. It is surprising to see how much can be accomplished in such a short time. The afternoon was spent in group meetings where the law was laid down. From there the delegates attended special interest groups. Tuesday evening was the group mixer and What 8 .m&eiJ.. Curfew was sounded each night at eleven, and doors were locked (of course there were always a few stragglers). And lights were out at eleven-thirty but that doesn't mean anyone went to sleep then.' Wednesday and Thursday were filled with tours of down town Lincoln and a little shop ping thrown in. We toured the Planetarium, Morrill Hall, the State Historical Society, and the Capital. Wednesday evening Lincoln Jaycees held a banquet in our honor at the Lincoln Hotel Ball room. Ed Sullivan gave the wel come, I was privileged to give the invocation, Elton Lux spoke, and Jimmy Sneed from the Playboys sang. Thursday evening began by a picnic catered by Kings. An im pressive flag lowerine was fol lowed by dancing to the music of Northeast High's Rockets. Bright and early Friday morn ing the group boarded the train to Omaha. No depot for us though, they unloaded right in the heart of the stockyards, where our day began. We were then divided into groups. Our group of eleven visited the Northern Natural Gas Company where we were treated royally. We toured their building, were fed, and saw a movie before going back to the stockyards Here we were again served a banquet. When we boarded the train back to Lincoln, we felt like the well known fatted calf. Needless to say pandomonium reigned on the train back tc Lincoln. Then came the sad part, saying good-bye to new made friends. This was a wonderful week one I am sure I will nevei forget.
