Ronald Grebe and Rus sell of Lincoln and Mrs. Ray Bower went to Plainview Friday for a weekend visit at the Keith Pollard home. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Armstrong called at the C. B. Dean home in Lincoln Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Sturm spent Sunday with Mrs. Sturm's father, H. W. Steinmeyor in Clatonia. Mr. and Mrs. H W. Steinmeyer Jr. of Columbus were also there. The elder Mr. Steinmeyer plans to leave soon for Seattle, to attend the World's Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lambert and .sons visited the Schlicferi iris gardens near Manley, Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Roeber and sons were a part of the fam ily group that were guests at a graduation dinner at the Ken neth Roeber home, Sunday. They were honoring John Roe ber,, a member of the senior class in the Murdock school. Henry Rockenbachs Set Open House For 50th Anniversary EAGLE Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rockenbach will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary with open house Sunday, June 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle. Friends and relatives may call without further invita tion from 2-5 p.m. The Rockenbachs have three children, Harry of Eagle, Elsie of Prairie Village, Kan., and Rcy of near Washington, D. C. Bible School Held At Alvo May 21-25 ALVO (Special) The Meth odist Church at Alvo had Bible School from May 21 through May 25 at Alvo School and Gym. Teachers were Mrs. Don Elli ott, Mrs. Doris Rains, Mrs. Ivan Boettner, Mrs. Kendall Dim mitt, Mrs. Ward Odell, Mrs. Ray Schweitzer, Mrs. Forest Hard nock, Mrs. Wilson Howe. Mrs. Lee Copple was superin tendent. N Open house was held Friday morning. Mrs. A. B. Stroemer served fruit drink and cookies each morning. Dianne Rogers, Jackie Jipp Merri Ann Kinney and Rosettta Rains assisted the teachers. Certificates were, given to all Bible School students Sunday morning during Church Serv ices. Mrs. Willard Leming's sister and husband from Hollywood California was here visiting this week with Mr. and Mrs. Willard Leming and family. Mrs. Berniece Leming was with her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Leming at Louisville, Sunday and they drove to Om aha in the afternoon. Rev. and Mrs. Carl Spencer and family will be at Lynch, Nebraska again this summer. Terry Cain will be the Minister this summer. He has finished his second year at St. Paul's Theological Seminary at Kansas City, Missouri. He and his bride will occupy the Alvo Parsonage this summer. June 10 will be Methodist Stu dent Day and the church serv ices will be conducted by stu dents from Alvo. Mr. and Mrs. Vick Godfrey of Elliott, Iowa, were in town this week visiting friends. Mrs. God frey was Dorothy Weidman, daughter of P. H. Weidman a former business man in Alvo, operating a grocery store across west from the present grocery store. They visited Mr and Mrs. Elmer Haas. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Roelofsz. Pat and Nancy were with Mrs. Roelofsz brother and wife, Mr and Mrs. Chris Hargleroad at Ayr, Nebraska over the week end. They attended church serv ices at a little Country Menonite Church near Ayr, Nebraska Sunday morning. Mrs. A. B. Stroemer's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Wil! Brown of Lincoln were dinner guests of Mrs. Stroemer, Sunday and attended church services at Alvo and Mrs. Stroemer accom panied the Brown's to the Wabash Cemetery to the Me morial Services, Sunday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Gra bowski and family were with Mrs. Grabowski's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Kellogg, Sun day for dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Haas were at Clatonia with Mr. Haas's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Krauter last Sunday. Louisville Couple Married May 25 Miss Margaret Wheeler was married to Mr. James Hoover May 25 in Christ Evangelical Lu theran Church. Tht Rev. A. B. Lentz officiated at the 7:30 wedding service. Pare.ius of the couple are Mrs. Louise Wheeler Love an 3 Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hoover, Louisville. Attendants at the ceremony were Mrs. Love and the bride groom's brother, John Hoover. A reception for the family was held at the Milton Hoover resi dence in Louisville. Present were Burdette Hoover and chil dren, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Cole rick, Mrs Lois Cair, grandmother of th3 bridegroom and William Hoover, grandfather of the bridegroom. Mrs. Norma McNurlin re turned home from the hospital inursaay. Joe DeVore became ill at his home last Monday after being back home for a couple of weeks. He is now at his daugh ter's home in Lincoln. M. Seefield. Carol's grandmother, Mrs. Hans Rasmussen returned home at Maxwell Friday. Sunday afternoon and evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Marvin were their granddaugh ter, Miss Mary Knolle and Gor don Meldrum of Lincoln. Announcement has been made recently of the engagement and Aug. 11th wedding date of the couple by Mrs. Knolle's parents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Knolle ol Sioux City, Iowa. Mrs. Gordon Hansen and girls were Monday morning and lunch guests of Mrs. Jake Hammer, Kathy and Brian. After graduation exercises at Ashland Wednesday evening the following guests gathered at the George Rouse home honoring Larry Rouse, one of the gradu ates: Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Pil fold and family of Weeping Water, Mrs. Margaret Walter and daughters of Ceresco, Mrs. Eldon Bates of Lincoln, Mrs Mildred Comstock, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Velder and Mrs. Larry Rouse. Mrs. Mildred Comstock re ceived a cablegram Sunday at 10:05 a.m. from Wiesbaden, Ger many, announcing the arrival of a new granddaughter, Carlin Le born May 27 to TSgt. and Mrs. Emmet Meyers. The new baby weighed 8 lbs. 11 ozs. The Mey ers have another daughter Linda Ann who is 5 years old. Mrs. Meyers was formerly Marilyr Comstock of Greenwood. The family moved'' from Berlin tc Wiesbaden during the Christmas holiday. Mrs. Meyers taught in Berlin elementary school second grade till last January. Mrs. Robert Beller and sons were visitors with Mrs. Ralph Grady of Lincoln Saturday. MORE Mrs. Larry Rouse Honored at Shower GREENWOOD (Special) Mrs. Larry Rouse was honored at a miscellaneous shower at the Christian Church basement Friday evening, May 25, with 75 guests present. The color scheme was blue and white. Decorations and fa vors were white bells and spring flowers. Readings by Mrs. Ed Stradley and Mrs. Gail Pollard. Two ac cordion numbers by Shirley Lan don comprised the program., after which Mrs. Rouse opened her many lovely gifts. Small decorated cakes, brick ice cream and coffee were served.
