Citizens: It has been five months, since the first filing was made for the office of Sheriff, during the current election. As the incumbent, I have stood ready to discuss or explain any part of our enforcement program. To date there hasn't been any such request made upon us. Law enforcement is the closest of all offices to the citizen's public and private lives. Therefore, the nature of such work brings the enforcement officer under the direct and constant scrutiny of the Public. We honestly feel that in carrying out the duties of the office we have given you the finest program that is humanly possible. 1. You have an administration of dedicated lawmen whose total years of law enforcement amounts to 33 years. 2. An administration which is recognized statewide for its service in law enforcement work. 3. An administration which is respected by the "criminal element." 4. The only Nebraska Sheriff ever to be awarded the "Hall of Fame" award in law enforcement work. 5. The only Nebraska Sheriff recognized by the State as a "Detective" with statewide power to investigate such position used only to further the enforcement of laws in Cass County. The work, which we have accomplished, has been made possible ONLY through the TRUST and CONFIDENCE which you placed in us by your VOTE: and through your continued help and understanding during our term of office. We SINCERELY hope, we have done the job expected of us and will CONTINUE to be WORTHY of your SUPPORT and VOTE. Don't take your law enforcement for CRANTED. VOTE.
