'Not Guilty' Verdict A jury of eight women and j four men returned a verdict of i "not guilty" Monday just alter ! 5 p.m. in the case, State vs. Mel i vin Earl Wilson, statutory rape, i Wilson had pleaded "not guilty." Prosecuting witness against the Plattsmouth man was Carol Ruth Si n d c 1 a r, formerly of Plattsmouth, now of San An tonio, Tex. The alleged incident took place Nov. 8, 1960. The jury had the case about 45 minutes before returning its verdict. Serving as jurors were Fran ces M. Boedeker, and, Mrs. La Vone Stohlmann, Mrs. Norma Nobbe, Cleo S. Print,, Mrs. R. R. Fur.se, Mrs. Ruth Morris. Edna A. Oleason, Mrs. Harold Peterson Jr., Mrs. John Mar quardt, Fred M. Seeger, John D. Smith and Albert Fairfield. Francis M. Casey for the de fendent and James F. Begley, County Attorney, were counsel in the case. The next docketed case this term of District Court was State vs. Ronald Kinney, drunk driv ing, previously disposed of. A case set for today, State vs. Louis P. Karangalen, drunk driving, was held over until May 17, due to a death in the family of the defense attorney. 6-, 4-Year Prison Terms Imposed Judge John M. Dierks imposed sentences of six and four years in two cases in District Court here today. John Thompson, 37, of Platts mouth was .sentenced to six years in the Men's Reformatory after pleading "quilty" to rape of a 13-year-old girl. Montana Clarence Alton, 21, cf Williston, N. D., was sen tenced to four years in the Pen itentiary for breaking into the Elms Bar at Nehawka. He ha ' pleaded "guilty'' last week an sentence was deferred pending investigation of the county pro bation officer. MURRAY Mrs. R. L. Quinnett Phone 325-3517 A vote of thanks to Fred Tesch, Chief of Police at Platts mouth: Mrs. Quinnett was shop ping in Plattsmouth Saturday when her incision broke. Tesch rushed her to the hospital at Nebraska City for medical at tention. It was not serious, how ever, and she was returned home. The 8th grade girls of the Murray School were invited to a style show at Nehawka. F.ASTKIl SERVK K Easter services will be held Sunday morning at the Horning Cemetery. This is being held by the United Christian Society. They have three meetings each year. The service is to be held at 5:30 a.m . In the event of bad weather it will be held at the Murray Christian Church. There will also be a breakfast at the Murray Chrisitan Church at 6:30 a.m. Juniors, seniors, and College age people are all invited. The Plattsmouth Christian Church is in charge of this pro gram. Churches taking part are: The Christian and Presbyterian Churches of Murray, EUB Church of Mynard, Methodist Presbyterian, Episcopal, and Christian Churches of Platts mouth. LAUGHING LASSIES Laughing Lassies 4-II Club met April 14 at the home of Janet Funkhouser. There were nine members present. Meeting opened with the pledge. Roll call was "What I do when I do as I please" Janet Funkhouser baked snickerdocdle which was judged and enjoyed by the group. Mrs. Filler's class made towels. Mrs. Person's class discussed about the variations of yeast, and breads, and Swedish special variations, and filled out sewing record books. Games suggested by Lana Baker and Janet Funkhouser' were enjoyed by all. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Next meeting will be April 28 nt 1 :30 p.m. nt the home of Sally Kmi'son.
