She was the widow of Erne.st Schleuter and made her home here for a number of years. Rev. Milford Vance of Ithaca conducted the service. Murdock WSWS MURDOCK (Special) The WSWS met on Thursday April 5 in the church parior.5. Linda Rieke had the lesson on South American countries. Tak ing part in the lesson study were Marjory Schlaphof, Lily Harger aid Martha Schmidt. Songs were sung that fitted in with the lesson. Reports on various phases of the work were given by Esther Stock, Martha Vogt, Marie Rikii, Lily Harger and Rev. Matske'. For closing devotions, each had a lighted candle and all stood in a circle while Elsie Von Spreck elson led prayer. The Ne braska Cow-Belles have sent The Round-up of Beef Cookery to 125 Nebraska public, libraries in ob servance of National Library Week, April 8-14. The Round-up of Beef Cookery, edited by Demitria Taylor, in cludes 400 tested recipes for cooking beef, as well as informa tion on the wrapping and freez ing of meat and carving. Many of the recipes were submitted by members of the Cow-Belles. This book has been sent to the local library. The party was held at the Alvin Bornemeier home in Murdock. Alvin Bornemeier has return ed from a business trip to Hu ron, So. Dak. He was gone a week. Mr. and Mrs. August Wendt attended the funeral of Leonard Wendt at Sterling, Neb., on Tuesday. He was a cousin of August Wendt's. Cladys Ackley Takes Teaching Position PERU Gladys Ackley of Ne hawka, candidate for an elemen tary education degree at Peru State Teachers College, has ac cepted a teaching position at San Bernardino, Calif., for the 1962-63 school year, the college's place ment director has announced. She is among 44 degree candi dates placed by the college. Eugene Wollenberg of Weeping Water, a Peru alumnus, has ac cepted a teaching job at Platte view of Springfield, the college said. open Saturday night! The squadron, scheduled to return from the Far East in late August, Is visiting ports in Jap an, Hong Kong and the Pilip pines. Peru Alumni Dinner Scheduled for May 3 PERU The annual dinner meeting of the Omaha area chap ter of the Peru Alumni Associ ation is scheduled for May 3 at 7 p.m. at the Birchwood Club, 2582 Redick, Omaha, according to Karl D. Ogg, Plattsmouth president of the Omaha area chapter. Alumni, former students, and friends of Peru State will have an opportunity to hear Jack Mc Intire, head football and basket ball coach at Peru State who has guided his 1961-62 teams to Ne braska C o 1 le g e Conference championships. Senior Circle WEEPING WATER (Special) The Senior Circle of the Christian Women's Fellowship met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Cyrus Livingston with Mrs. Fred Linville as co hostess. Mrs. Henry Knaup presided at the meeting. She opened the meeting by reading the hymn for April, and using a thought from this hymn. Mrs. S. H. Harmon presented the devotions, using as her topic, "Ye Shall Be My Witness in Love," followed by group sing ing. Mrs. Harmon conducted a quiz from the World Call on "Hid den Answers." She closed the worship service with sentence prayers. Mrs. Victor Plunkett, Jr. gave the missionary lesson on, "Evangelism in Latin America." She closed the lesson with a poem, "The Story Our Shoes Tell Us." Mrs. Plunkett, service chair man of the circle, showed the finished top for the quilt that the ladies are making. The hostesses served lunch. Mrs. Knaup closed the meeting with prayer. She also showed some local pictures. Mrs. Floyd Jocrger was program chairman. Mrs. Elmer Stoll presided. A contribution was made to the Fine Art fund. Mrs. Will Ost, chairman of the ways and means committee, reported $68 .82 was realized from a din ner served to the Coop oil mem bers. Mrs. Amelia Balfour, music chairman, presented Mrs. James Gilley, who accompanied three students on the piano. Gary Andersen played two trombone solos, Sharon Poulous, a French horn solo and Charles Cook, a cornet solo. A new edition of Little Wo men was placed on the library shelves. Guests were Allegra Wilkens, Lincoln; Mrs. Emily Olive, Weeping Water; Miss Isabel Willsie, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, Mrs. Arthur Wolph. Mrs. Merton Norris presided at the meeting. Mrs. Lois Tefft was secretary pro-tem. Mrs. Ernest Johnson and Mrs. Laurence Ei denmiller held a Memorial ser vice for Mrs. Ruby Druery.
