The members .spent the afternoon sewinu quilt blocks. Mrs. Herbert Petersen read a story for the clevoticn.il period, 'What Does God Do At Niiht". Poems were read by Mrs. Sam Hughes, Mrs. Carter Nielsen. Mrs. Hti;he.s read, "I'm Fine" and Mrs. Nielsen, "A Soli loquy". Mrs. Hobart Henson, work chairman, reported that two quilts had been sold. The serving table was covered with white with the Saint Patrick theme used in the decorations. Hostesses were Mrs. Theodore Carnes, Mrs. Ela Heck, Mrs. Frank Pace and Mrs. Arthur Uarkhurst. Pins Awarded for SS Attendance WEEPING WATER (Special) -Maurice Hammons, secretary of the Weenini; Water Christian Church, passed out the perfect attendance pins at the close of Sunday school. The following received pins: Eleven year bar, Carol Nickels; ten year bar, Mrs. Lynn Rot he, Alan Rothe and Galen Rothe; nine year bar, Mrs. Edward Van Horn, John Van Horn, Larry Hammons; eight year bar, Mar ilyn Hammons; seven year bar, Roger Hammons; six year bar. BOOT and SITU The Boot and Spur 4-H Club held a meeti.ig, March 10, at the home of their leader with 18 members and one guest present. A short business meeting was held. Signs were displayed and dis cussed. Genene Nolte, Dennis Hen niags, and Paul Spangler g.iv? a demonstration on Shelter and Stalls. . We were given a written test on the parts of a horse. For the April 14 meeting we are to read Common Unsound nesses and Blemishes in our manuals. Recreations period followed the close of the meeting. Lunch was served bv Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Worthan. Mrs. Conant Wiles presided at the meeting. There were eighteen members present and Mrs. Ethel Groesser was a guest. Mrs. John Groesser led in vroup singing. Roil call was answered by "Something About Ireland". Mrs. Alvin Groesser and Mrs. Robert Jameson gave the lesson on "Remodeling Dresses". She urged every one to vote. Next regular meeting of the Jr.-Sr. PTA will be Monday, April 9 in the Central Cafeteria at 7:30 p.m. The state PTA convention will be held in Omaha May 3-4. More information will be given at the April meeting. Robert Humphrey was the s,;e:iker for the evening. Mr. Humphrey is a guidance coun selor l.r the junior high and high school. He explained the difference between guidance and eoun-'cling and why we have it. He deser.bed the program used in our school and what facilities are available and then told of some of the improvements which have been recommended. The aim of the counseling pro gram is to help the .students, scholastically, socially and emo tionally and to help each stu dent to understand himself and his problems. He is in room 207. He was taken to the hospital Friday. I Mr. and Mrs. J. G. McMaken returned from Chicago and Phil adelphia where they spent two weeks. Rubin "Butch" Meisinger was taken by Saltier Ambulance Thursday to the Clarkson Hospi tal. Mr. Meisinger is in critical condition and has not regained consciousness. He is room 633. Junior Unit of VFW Auxiliary Has Meeting Plans for initiation, election of officers and installation, was the Inghlight of the meeting of the Junior Unit of the Ladies Aux iliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, held Wednesday night at the VFW Club. Roll call was answered with 20 members in attendance. Dixie Wilson, the Junior pres ident, conducted the meeting. Bobie Rains served as Junior vice president pro-tem. Four candidates for member ship were accepted into the Aux iliary and initiation will be held at the April meeting. Election of officers will also be held in April and installation of new officers will be held in May. In the communications re ceived, a letter was read from Laure Lynn Wolever of Mont rose. Colo., thanking the group for the card sent to her. Report was given on the bake sale that was postponed due to bad weather. A committee composed of Shryn Whipple, Linda Thornton, Donna Porter and Judy Baum gart was assigned to make plans for the bake sale. Gloria Dasher, gave a report on the tea held recently honor ing mothers of the Juniors. Membership pins will be pre sented Juniors who have not re ceived a pin, in May. Meeting adjourned with the retiring of the colors. Hostesses Debbie Porter and Juanita Davidson, served punch and cookies.' Dancing and playing games was the diversion of evening, with council members Lillian Dasher, Norma Wilson and Sophia Wolever attending as ehaperones. nrsY Hi i.i.iis WEEPING WATER ( Special 1 The Busy Belles 4-H Club met at the home of Barbara Finley Tuesday after school with nine members present. Joyce Schma deke presided at the meeting. Roll call was answered by nam ing a favorite topping for corn bread. Barbara and Carole Sue Upton pave a demonstration on corn bread. Each girl brought a biscuit and these were judged. Betty Haines was in charge of games. Next meeting will be with Diane Patton on March 27th. Lt. and Mrs. J. K. Hope and daughter left the city today for South Carolina where he has been assigned. Lt. Hope has been stationed at Ottutt Air Base the past two years, mak ing their home in Plattsmouth where they were active in civic and church affairs. Weeping Water FHA Discusses 'Youth1 WEEPING WATER (Special) The Future Homemakers of America held their regular meeting on Thursday afternoon after school. All of the girls were present but four. The three chapter mo thers, Mrs. Jack Ratliff, Mrs. Fred Seeger and Mrs. Edward Van Horn were also present. Mrs. Arnold Detmer is the chap ter advisor. Diane Ratliff, presi dent, presided at the meeting. A panel discussion was held en the topic, 'Youth Measures Your Values." Members of the panel were Carol Schlueter, Joyce Domingo, Lane Wendt, Lawrence Collier, Arnold Det mer, Truman Lytle and Ken neth Wiles. Mary Louise Detmer was the narrator and read the questions for discussion. Following the panel discus sion the State convention was discussed. Janice Domingo, Diane Ratliff and Mary Louise Detmer were voted by the girls to attend the convention. Carol Nickels led in the devotional period. FHA week will be April 1 until April 7 and the girls have some thing planned for each day, be ginning with each member at tending church on Sunday. Susanne Seeger led in the group singing of several songs. William F. Becker Signs for Internship OMAHA William F. Becker, a senior at the University of Ne braska College of Medicine in Omaha, has signed for a one year intcrnshin with University of Nebraska Hospital of Omaha.
