He weighed 5 lbs. 12 ozs. and has been named Joseph Andrew. Mr. and Mrs. Bednar have one other child, a daughter Ilsa Marie. Park of Lincoln, wife of Rev. C. A. Park of Green wood Christian Church suffered a stroke Saturday evening and is in Bryan Memorial Hospital. Raymond Newkirk of Fremont spent Sunday at the George Rouse home. Raymond will leave next Sunday for his home in San Diego, Calif., after spending the past 6 months working at the Mead missile sight. Nielsen Named To J National Engineer Honor Society V. Stuart Nielsen, son of Aurora Mayor and Mrs. Orville V. Nielsen, a member of the Sigma Phi Epsllon Fraternity, has been named to Tau Beta PI National Engineering Honor Society. The purpose of the honor fra ternity is to mark those who have conferred honor upon their alma mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary char acter as students, or by their pro fessional attainments as alumni and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges. He was also nominated along with two others for the coveted Silver Medal Award. He will be interviewed by the Colorado Engineer's Council at Denver University. The Silver Medal Award Is given by the Colorado Engineers Council of Engineers Day to the most outstanding in his class. Mrs. Harry Knabe attended the Executive Board meeting of the Private Duty Nurses Section of the state at the nurses headquar ters at the Security Building in Omaha Tuesday. Mrs. Knabe is first vice chairman. She was elected delegate to the national meeting of the private duty sec tion in Detroit May 13. Da r ward Henderson Trains in Germany U. S. FORCES, Germany Army Specialist Four Darward J. Henderson, whose wife, Pa tricia, lives at 1634 E. Utica St.. Sellersburg, Ind., recently parti cipated in Exercise Long Thrust II, a month-long field training exercise in Germany. During the exercise more than 6,000 troops from the 4th Infan try Division, which is regularly located at Fort Lewis, Wash, were flown to Europe in one of the Army's largest peacetime deployments overseas. Units reg ularly stationed in Germany pro vided 17,000 combat and support troops for the exercise which was designed to provide the par ticipating units with long range mobility training and to test their combat readiness. Specialist Henderson, a me chanic in the 5th Psychological Warfare Company in Bobingen, Germany, entered the Army in January, 1958, and arrived over seas, on this tour of duty, in No vember, 1961. The 22-year-old soldier, son of James Henderson, 837 S. Second St., Louisville, Ky., attended Upper Tygart (Ky.) High School. His mother, Mrs. Lillian De Wecse, lives in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. THE PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA, SEMI-WEEKLY JOURNAL Monday, March 5, 1962 Obituary James Heard LOUISVILLE (Special) James Heard was born March 15. 1881, at Seymour, Mo., and died at Baptist Hospital in Springfield, Mo., Feb. 20 at 80. He was married April 4, 1909, to M audio Anderson at Denlow, Missouri. To this union 10 chil dren were born. Mr. and Mrs. Heard and family moved to Louisville in 1930 where Mr. Heard was employed at. Ash Grove Cement Co. They lived here until 1943 nt which time they returned to Norwood. PAGE FIVE He' was a member of the Chris tian Church. Surviving besides the widow are Leonard, Ephy, Kenneth and William Heard, Mrs. Vivian Hor manson and Mrs. Austa Conley all of Louisville, Blaine Hoard and Mrs. Wava Kelly of Nor wood, Missouri. Mrs. Bonnie Goings of Tacoina, Washington and Mrs. Lizetta Roy of Baker, Montana; two sisters, two broth ers, 54 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Fob.
