Good Luck Club MURDOCK (Special) The Good Luck Club held its Febru ary meeting at the Vernon Sehewe home, beginning with a covered dish luncheon at noon. Winona Burrill and Grace Blessing presented the lesson on "Kinds of Paints and Painting." Due to weather conditions and illness, not many members turned out. Friendly Neighbors MURDOCK (Special) The Friendly Neighbor Club held its meeting at the Alvin Neitzel home, there were 10 members present and two visitors, Lydia Streich and Elsa Hornbeck. Gerry Reickman conducted the business meeting and Ann Richert had charge of the enter tainment. Next meeting will be at Mrs. Herb Bornemeiers home. Attend Funeral of Mrs. Ruby Druery AVOCA (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Silas Everett, Mrs. Leona Bogard, Mrs. Lester Heebner at tended funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Druery at Plattsmouth Sat urday. Mrs. Druery was born at Plattsmouth but lived most of her life in Avoea, living at Au burn utter her marriage to Jonas Druery from 1914 to 1920. Alter her husband's death she again came here to live with her children. She is survived by her chil dren, Paul, Louisville, Mrs. Fmma Druery, Independence, Mo., Mrs. Frances Rathbun, Murray, one sister Mrs. Elsie Poinroy, Lexington. Services were directed by Elder Elvin Coolman of the Re organized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Four Square Club MURDOCK (Special) The Four Square Club met at the Herman Wendt home on Thurs day afternoon. Eleven members and two vis itors were present. The program was patriotic in celebration of Washing ton's birthday. The lesson was on cake decor ating and Elsie Wendt had baked and decorated a cake which later was presented to Mrs. August Reike as thev were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. She was pleasantly surprised. Lunch was served later. RLDS Women The Women of the Reorgan ized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, held their reg ular meeting Feb. 23. Mrs. Helen Steeby was in charge. Alyce Green gave the devo tions and presented the first les son from the new study book, "Ten Considerations For Family Living." Plans were made for a food and bake sale March 3. Also discussed were a covered dish luncheon and time for wo4 to prepare for a rummage sale in the near future. Blossom Yelick will be March hostess. PRACTICE TEACHING Ardyth Oehlerking, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Oehlerk ing of Murdock, student at West mar College, Le Mars, Iowa, is currently enrolled in the student teaching program there. She is doing the nine weeks practice teaching on the secondary level in Marcus, Iowa, in typing and shorthand. house at the Eagle Methodist Church, with approximately, 200 relatives and guests attending. Rosalie Ostrander. granddau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Malone, was in charge of the guest book. Rev. John Bartleson, pastor of the church lead in Prayer and extended Congratulations to the honored couple. Several musical numbers were presented by their grandchil dren. Songs were selected by Mr. and Mrs. Malone in keep ing with the era of 1912 and the traditional theme. The gift table was attended by Mmes Richard Ostrander, Harvey; Hution, both ol Lincoln and Marilyn Huslig, of Mead, Kans. The serving table was center ed with the beautiful tiered wedding cake, decorated with yellow rose buds, crowned at "the top with the "50th Year." Receptionists were Mr. and Mrs. Duane Ostrander of Lin coln. Mrs. Lloyd Ostrander of Lin coln, daughter of the Malones, cut the cake, assisted by Mmes. Harry Reuter, of Sterling, Nebr. and Mrs. Elvin Malone of Pal myra. Mrs. Lester Dovel, sister ol Mrs. Malone, poured punch and Mrs. Wm. Hutton, daughter of East Line Lassies EAGLE (Special) "East Lines Lassies" 4-H Club met at the Immanual Lutheran Church at Eagle for their February meeting, with Doris Schildt, as hostess. President Jeanettee Ronhov de, was absent, due to illness and Vice President Doris Schildt called the meeting to order. The girls learned the "Tying of a Single Knot." Valentine gifts were exchang ed and games were played. Next meeting will be at Jayne Reed's home, March 10. Jake Schuster, 97, father of Mrs. Malone, was the only rela tive who also attended the wed ding ceremony 50 years ago -due to the blizzard conditions on that day and he now lives at the Malone home. The couple was married in Tecumseh. Guests registering Sunday afternoon were from Lincoln, Eagle, Nebraska City, Unadilla, Dunbar, Douglas, Crete, Davey, Sterling, Palmyra Nebraska and Mead, Kansas. FyIURDQCK Dorothy Mills Phone 2956 Walter Backemeyer is in the hospital for treatment and obser vation. Mrs. Paul Schewe suffered a slight heart attack last week and her daughter Virginia came from Omaha to care for her. Janet Schewe was home for the weekend, also Judy Mills and her roommate, Dor.na Hughes from Wayne. They attended the bas ketball game Friday night. Laurel Bornemeier spent the weekend at home. She is taking nurses training at Clarkson Hos pital In Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Mills and small son Scottie of York were weekend guests at the J. F. Mills home. They attended morning church services in Murdock. A guest at the Vern Lau home is Mrs. John Scallan of Hopkins ville, Kentucky, Mrs. Scallan Is a sister of Mrs. Lau. Her husband is serving in the Armed Forces and is stationed at Ft. Campbell in Kentucky. Sunday dinner guests of the Alvin Bornemeiers were Mr. and Mrs. Christner of Hamlet, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Walter Thimgan and the Don Bornemeier family. The Christners are Mrs. Don Bornemeier's parents. Mrs. J. F. Mills and Judy at tended the dedication ;ervices .nv the new Elmwood sc'nool on Sunday afternoon and heard Gov. Morrison sneak. It is a beautiful building and the people of Elm wood and vicinity can well be proud of it. Going from here to Lincoln were Mr. and Mrs. Don E. Born emeier and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bornemeier. The occasion was to help grandfather Barrnet celebrate his 93rd birth day, he is Mrs. Don Borne meier's grandfather. Mrs. Wm. Blum suffered a cracked bone in her leg in a fall at the schoolhouse, she was taken to the Providence Hospital in Lincoln for X-rays. Harry Bucholz was released from the hospital and is report ed to be improved and glad to be home again. The Mark Rikli Family of Hen nessey, Okla.. are house guests of the Wm. Rikli's. They also vis ited the Edgar Kuehn's at Mal colm, Nebr. Mark Rikli and Mrs. Kuehn (Bernice) are brother and sister. Quarryman Injured At Weeping Water j WEEPING WATER (Special) j Floyd (Pat) Bauers was taken to the St. Mary's hospital in Nebraska City Tuesday after noon. He suffered serious in juries in an accident at Hop per Brothers Quarry in the afternoon. j A large conveyor belt, loaded , with rock had refused to start. He was under the belt and was pulling on the return belt try-; ing to get it started. The con veyor belt snapped in the mid dle and the entire structure fell on Pat, pinning him to the ground. His brother, Richard Bauers, used a loader to lift the con veyor belt. Several of the men were able to get him from beneath the machinery. Dr. L. 9 N. Kunkel was called and he was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. He received a badly crushed right leg, (he had this same leg broken before) severe body bruises. He remained in critical condition for some time. Eugene Lorensen was also in the accident but was fortunate to get out with cuts and bruises. He was not hospitalized.
