km " n r 7 Cufcs of Veepng Water WEEPINO WATER (Special) The Junior Circle of the Chris tlan Women' Fellowship met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Leon Bond. Mrs. Bond, chairman, opened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Henry Irons presented the worship on "As We Learn to Please". Mrs. Harold Cummlngs gave the missionary lesson on "Mission Church and It' Budget". The November meeting will be with Mrs. Jack Howard. The Senior Circle of the Chris tian Women's Fellowship met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Marlon Spangler with ten members present. Mrs. James McVay was. a guest. Mrs. Leo Chrlstensen opened the meeting with prayer and a poem, "Moth er's Prayer". Mrs. S. H. Harmon presented the devotions with song, prayer and used as her topic, "Be Thou Our Guide". Mrs. Victor Plunk- ett, Jr. gave the missionary les son on "New Times Require New Spirit". Mrs. Plunkett, service chair man, led In the discussion of service projects. The November meeting will be with Mrs. Ed Freeman. The Friendly Neighbor Club met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Richard Wiles with ten members present. Mrs. Hobart Henson and Doris Baler were guests. Miss Baler was the guest of honor at a miscellaneous shower at the meeting. Several games were played. The club do nated two books to the City Li brary; a coin collections book and "Do It Yourself Craft". The Better Best Extension Club met on Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ora Fitch with ten members present. Mrs. Art Hammond presided at the busi ness meeting. Mrs. Gordon Will- coxcn and Mrs. Grace Harter presented the lesson on "Arthri tis". The members enjoyed a grab bag. The following will serve as officers for the coming year: President, Mrs. Ora Fitch; vice secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Gordon Wlllcoxen; reporter, Mrs Grace Halter. The November meeting will be with Mrs. H. I. Rookstool. The Junior Women's Club met on Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Don Fleming with eleven members present. Mrs. J. O. Beyer, Mrs. Staley Hackley and Mrs. Larry Wade were guests and became new members. Mrs. W. P. Wade presided at the meeting. Mrs. Richard Harmon enter tained the members of the Club at a farewell coffee on Tuesday afternoon October 17 honoring Mrs. Fred Saathoff. The members will hem the civil defense arm bands. A cooperative lunch of sand wiches and cookies were served. The November meeting will be with Mrs. Lynn Parson with Mrs. Harold ,Wade as co-hostess. The WSCS met Tuesday after noon In the Methodist church parlors with twenty three mem bers present. Mrs. Herbert Pet ersen opened the meeting with the Spiritual life moment on "What Prayer I&y'What prayer Is Not", , : ? Mrs. John Heebner presented the devotions and Mrs. Richard Laurltzen presented the lesson on "This Is My Church". Roll call was answered by a prophesy In the Bible. Mrs. Joha Groesser presided at the meeting. The Week of Prayer and Self Denial will begin , October 25. Coffee will be served in the church parlors at 9:45 and the ladies will meet from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Mr. John Norrls will preside at this meeting. The annual Sunset Banquet will be held Nov. 7 in the church parlors for those In the Weeping Water vicinity who are 70 years of age or older. The banquet will be held at 6:15 and a family night will be held for the members of the church at the same time. Anyone 70 years or older is Invited to at tend this banquet. v Sunday, Oct. 29th the Method tat Church ' Parsonage will be dedicated. Rev. Jackman, dist rict superintendent, will be pre sent for this oecasslon. A coyered dish dinner will be held at noon. The Nov. 1 meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Staley Hack-ley. Den 6 Cub Scouts Visit- Th Journal Den 6 of the Cub Scouts visit ed the Journal Tuesday after noon to learn a little about the newspaper business. In the group were Tommy Ay lor, Freddie Lorensen, Carl Rhy lander, Tommy Halth, David fFreel, Jack Craln, Bruce Hill and David Rhylander. SHE PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA, UMI-WtlKLY JOURNAL Thursday, October 19, 1961 PAGJS FIVE mrr-T World Community Day Set Nov. 3 At Murray Church World Community Day, spon sored by the United Church Wo men will be observed Nov. 3 beginning at 2 p.m. at the Mur ray Christian Church, The planning committee met at the Murray Christian Church Oct. 17 with Mrs. Newton Sulli van, president, presiding. Mrs. R. A. Noell of the Murray Christian Church, chairman of Christian Worlds Relations, pre sented plans for the program, and the observance of World Community Day. The theme this year Is "Freedom to Know." The years Mission Theme is "South America." ' Women from each of the nine churches in the council were re presented at the meeting. Th women of the churches are asked to bring their gifts at the World Community Day observ ance. These gifts will include school bags to be filed with 2 writing pads, 0 pencils, 1 box of crayons, 2 erasers and I blunt pointed scissor. Also South America is in spec ial need of school outfits and childrens, clothes, and good used clothing, (except high heel shoes and hats). Men's clothes are also In great demand. The "Gifts" will be sent to St. Louis and then onto South America. GI's Apprehended Two military service men from Ft. Riley, Kansas, one classified as a "deserter" and the other as "being AWOL" were taken into custody by Deputy Sheriff Joe Kruntorad Monday here and lodged in County Jail. . Military Police from Omahu came for the men and returned them to Kansas.
